Meh, I chose the wrong word to describe it. Anywho, I don't really think this matter is any important beside the fact that the women who was shot is a property of Apple. This'll surely cause some stir among Apple fanbase as it may be seen as an attack.

The important part is not the shooting in itself but the following reaction which is triggered by it.

I am amazed at the insensitivity of someone who describes the shooting of a human being as trivial and then appears to link the victim's suffering to the persons opinions of the manufacturer in whose premises it occurred. No, sir, the important thing is not the reaction of Apple to this but the fact that a 26 year old woman had to endure the terror of someone pointing a gun at her and then the pain and danger to her life of the person pulling the trigger. To suggest that this horrendous situation is somehow less important than the potential reaction of her employer displays a breathtaking disregard for the pain and suffering of others.

'Trivial' was a poor choice of wording, although I think I know the point you were trying to get across.

Had this been at a mom&pop grocery store, only the local news would've picked up this story. In the big scheme of national (or even international) news reporting, this newsworthiness of this unfortunate event occurring almost anyplace else would indeed have been judged as 'trivial' and basically ignored even if it made it onto the wire services...except for the fact that it happened at a Apple Store which suddenly brings unwarranted attention to news editors--especially tech-related souls--across the internet.

The fact that CNET chose to make a fuss over this shows just how much pull those five letters (A-P-P-L-E) has on its own newsdesk, even if the actual point of the story (violent crime) has little if anything to do with technology.

Other than it happened to be an Apple store, why is this even a C|Net news story. Was that day that freaking slow? Seriously: welcome to the city. Stores get knocked over all the time. It's *NOT* newsworthy (except for maybe the local evening news). So this man, an iRobber, used an iGun to shoot an iBullet at an Apple iEmployee in an attempt to rob the Apple iStore and iSteal iMoney from the iStore. To the writers of cnet and the members of its blog network, please stick to tech news. Yes, it happened at an Apple store, which sells computers. But, this type of thing can and will happen at any type of store that looks like it has expensive products or money in the registers. An Apple store isn't magically immune to what goes on in the rest of the country.
