One more thing.......................
Here is the new AppleTV. It's a hybrid of the Mac Mini and an AppleTV. It has DVR and HDMI. You can run it in Full Mac OSX mode or the simplified AppleTV mode. No restrictions. You can run Hulu, Boxee, Netflix, or get your content from iTunes. Price? $499

Welcome back Steve. Amen

Oh, it also plays BlueRay, the iPhone or iPod touch is the remote, and it can run all the Apps from the apps store. Amen

You forgot that it fries eggs on the top to a crispy finish.

No kidding- go search online for the overheating issues. Now add more horsepower and features but retain the same cooling-challenged case and you have a prime example of a meltdown.

@vega: I've had one for three years and the house still hasn't caught fire yet. Me thinks you exaggerate.

Pictures don't lie. That's one very very hot Apple TV. Go search online and you'll find hundreds of thousands of hits.
by The_happy_switcher June 23, 2009 1:08 PM PDT
@vega: I never said it doesn't run warm, just that it's not dangerous if you keep it well ventilated and not put things on it.

"Welcome back Steve. Amen" Ahh, the new cult prayer.
by Seaspray0 June 23, 2009 2:51 PM PDT
@bogusbasin. Running an internet search and dredging up 3 year old reports doesn't impress me, nor does it have anything to do with the appleTV overheating.
by BogusBasin June 23, 2009 3:07 PM PDT
Seaspray - Let me assure you that I have absolutely no desire to impress you. Go defrag your hard drive and edit your registry. If you can get through all the bloatware, pop-ups and viruses.

Amen

That everyone here seems so concerned about Steve Jobs health is surprising bordering on the ridiculous....only major shareholders so have so much concern.....I'm an avid Apple fan but....I do not worship a CEO.....give me my Mac...but you can keep the Kool Aid.

I find it amazing that he was probably seen by MANY people and yet not one has posted something about how he looked, told somebody else with a blog, etc. I have to assume that he still looks thin. Consider that if he looked really robust that news would have gotten out immediately. In general though, I hope that he is and will continue to recover.

Considering Apple has a history of terminating anyone who even inadvertantly leaks information, I am not surprised at all that nobody at Apple would comment on his condition.

$crooge Return$!

Welcome back $teve Job$! Now you can focus on what you love most - money! No need to appear on Forbes' list of top philanthropists like Gates, Brin, Ellison, Dell, Lazaridis (Blackberry), etc...

$teve Job$ is changing the world by controlling what apps you see.

Buy a Gphone! It's open, it's freedom, it's Linux, it's Google!!

"$teve Job$ is changing the world by controlling what apps you see. " Really, all 50000? How many apps are available for Blackberry or gphone?
by Mr. Dee June 23, 2009 7:40 PM PDT
Please take Larry Ellison off that list. He donated money to a University then took it back.
by Seaspray0 June 24, 2009 6:46 AM PDT
LOL, joetesta gives the apple fanboys a taste of their own medicine. Now you know how it feels when you do the same thing to others. Annoying, isn't it?
by maguidhir June 23, 2009 8:27 AM PDT
I'm getting sick of news articles surrounding Steve Jobs' health.
It seems to me, and others probably, that the media are deriving a certain amount of mirth from commenting on it, spotting him at various locations etc.
If Apple make a statement regarding Steve Jobs then that might be considered technology news, anything else is an invasion of the man's privacy.
Also, the fact that he is wealthy does not waive his right to privacy.
I'd take some time to reconsider your position as a technology news website.
I used to read and refer to articles here, I'm in two minds about doing that in future.

"I'm getting sick of news articles surrounding Steve Jobs' health.

Then don't read articles about him. If no one reads them then they will stop writing them. However, other people are not sick of news stories about Steve being sick.

I am pleased to hear he was spotted on campus. He's been back several times to visit, but hopefully he'll be there to stay.

He will need to do a public appearance to really alleviate the rumors of his health condition and address the situation honestly and openly or else people will just say it's all a coverup or something else as silly.

Steve Jobs should start a religion. I mean look at all the followers he already has on this site. He is a man people! He can't save you from your sins. So I'll see you all in hell.........from heaven because I don't worship Steve Jobs.

Jesus was a man, too--and nothing else. Sorry, I don't believe in the invisible man in the sky who watches and listens to all our thoughts. I'm sure if he/she exists it's nothing like we imagine him/her to be and would probably be bored to death monitoring us.

Wow, that's fascinating and a great mis-use of stats. How about we look at my 10 year chart instead comparing aapl with palm: Apple up 1500 percent, Palm?: Flatlined. NOw, go back in your cave.

by AppleSuxLeo June 23, 2009 11:23 AM PDT
If Jobs returning REALLY meant something , AAPL would have jumped on the news...it did not.
by The_happy_switcher June 23, 2009 11:26 AM PDT
Ever heard of selling on the news? The street has known for weeks he was coming back. This isn't news.

"If Jobs returning REALLY meant something , AAPL would have jumped on the news...it did not."

Hey how is your Pre working out?
by ralfthedog June 23, 2009 12:46 PM PDT
"Hey how is your Pre working out?"

That was not fair. I met someone who has a brother that owns a Pre. He say it is almost as good as a real phone. Give the poor guy a break.

@The_Happy_Switcher:

You're not helping with your comments. If you don't have anything useful to contribute.....

@Perry:

Look up the definition of a net troll before you start calling others that. You may find yourself included in the category. Your comments definitely qualify.
by ralfthedog June 23, 2009 12:53 PM PDT
@ SuxLeo,

Palm is in a very good position for growth. If they sell a new phone they double their market share.

:)
by The_happy_switcher June 23, 2009 1:06 PM PDT
@vega: Who died and appointed you moderator and decider of what's useful or not? I was merely pointing out that Apple stock has far outperformed Palm and that he was choosing a snap shot in time to make a bogus point. He also doesn't seem to understand how wall street works, either.
by seven7dust June 23, 2009 1:37 PM PDT
@dan
sticking up for a troll like leo is just as bad actually !
by Seaspray0 June 23, 2009 2:42 PM PDT
@the happy switcher. The 10 year chart shows apple currently up 1000%, not 1500%. The one year chart shows apple pretty much flat with palm up 100%. If I was to make any judgments based on the pre, I'd pick the chart that starts when the pre was announced or released, and that would be about 6 months ago or a week ago... Not 10 years ago.

Regardless what anyone says, IF a man wants his privacy, it is his RIGHT to keep it, especially about medical issues. Get off the obsessed, demanding sensation chasing attitude. Respect the man for his work and if he never wants to appear in front of stupid sensation searching reporters, asking him about his health, I am not amazed, I would do the same and it has nothing to do with his ownership of Apple, Disney or his position, and this goes for Warren Buffer too.

15 sites that went kaput in 2009

Web sites launch all the time, but they also shut their doors. We highlight 15 that bit the dust this year.

Top 10 news stories of the decade

Let the debate begin: Was the iPhone more important than iTunes? Was anything bigger than Google finding a great business model? CNET offers its list of the 10 most important stories of the '00s.

About Apple

CNET News' Erica Ogg and other reporters will attempt to make sense of the rumors, hype, products, and people that will shape the future of the company. But Apple's not the only game in town, as the established cell phone companies and others strike back against the iPhone. E-mail Erica at erica.ogg@cnet.com.
