Comments on: Smaller crowds line up for iPhone 3G S on first day

The turnout is noticeably less frenzied and the activation problems that plagued last year's iPhone 3G launch appeared a thing of the past.

Palm Pre FTW !
Imagine Apple had over a 2 year head start and the Pre is faster and has a better OS/UI.
Even Leo Laporte who is VERY pro-Apple said the Pre has set a new standard for UI.

I guess the many years of Palm Treos don't count, especially the ones that dropped the Palm OS to go with WinMo. Want to try spreading some more FUD? What am I saying? Of course you do!!

My guess is that the majority of people who purchased the 3GS upgraded from a prior version. At this point probably everyone who wants an iPhone already has one. The biggest influx of new customers will probably be from the $99 version.

So applesuxleo, palm never made a phone before? If I remember correctly palm has had quite a few years of making phones before apple.

My iPhone 3Gs arrived Friday. I plugged it in to my computer to activate it and up popped someone else's phone number. Without the correct phone number, I cannot activate it. I have now made one trip and one long phone call to Apple; one trip and one two long phone calls to AT&T. I learned that the phone's hardware ID is associated with someone else's phone number. So far, nobody knows how to correct it. In passing, the AT&T technician, who seemed very knowledgeable and capable, said they had had many such reports and had mixed success in fixing them. All of the problems arose, he said, in phones that were pre-ordered on Apple on-line store. So much for saving a trip to the store. Six hours of my time lost to fruitless troubleshooting so far.

The Apple apologists are out in full force trying to explain how Palm could build a better OS/UI right under their noses. And a phone that is much easier to use one-handed , while iPhone users poke at the screen with one hand while they hold it with the other.
It`s also funny seeing the people at the gym with Apple products with their white ear buds all tangled up while I listen over BT 2.0 on a phone that is almost 4 years old.

*** is your point?? Anyone who chooses the username "AppleSuxLeo" makes it quite obvious what he/she doesn't use. I know I am not the only here that knows that "AppleSuxLeo" is your name, spreading "FUD" is your game. If you don't like Apple, why do you bother coming here? Oh, because people do it to Microsoft too. Sorry, I forgot that I was back in grade school. "But he did it first Mrs. Johnson!!"

Oh, BTW, I think Palm having a former Apple employee working for them made have played at least a small part in the IU development. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery I guess.

It really doesn't matter what any fanbois think one way or another. Apple sold a record 1 million iPhone 3GS over the first weekend. If you think the Apple juggernaut is slowing down and it's all just smoke and mirrors marketing which will be exposed by the brilliance of WinMo 6.5 or Zune HD or Palm Pre or the latest Android phone, you've got another thing coming. Between the iPod touch and iPhone, Apple now has a 40 million user base, 50 thousand apps and most importantly, brilliantly functioning cash cow. We're talking $5 billion in revenue at least per year that did not exist 2 years ago! Meanwhile, MS has yet to make any serious money off of it's X-box, WinMo and Zune divisions for the last decade, Palm/Sprint is on life support and Android still has very little traction in users, apps or revenue.

It might all be smoke and mirrors but Apple is selling iPhone like hotcakes and rolling in cash and RIM is the only one competing with them right now.
