I purchased my iphone 3g on 7-11-08 the day it came out. I called ATT and was told I had to wait untill 2-10-10 to get the new iphone at the subsidized price. I understand how this all works. My problem is in Feb. I have to choose wether to get the 3gs or to wait for the newer phone which will be released next summer. It is a vicous cycle and I just can't stand it anymore.

Welcome to the world of Apple and cell phone carriers :-)

I'd be the first to buy iPhone if it comes out for other than ATT though

Does anybody know at what time they will let people in the AT&T stores if they didn't pre-order the iPhone?
I thought it was at 7am just like everybody else, but this article says it will be at 9am. Now I'm confused.
Thanks!

IPhone 4.0 coming after summer with Steve Jobs.

1)Flash player support
2)Quick back option without going to home screen while switching between apps.
3)File browsing and storing
4)Option to attach images, file etc from email app itself.
5)Multiple signature options
6)Manual rotate gesture option
7)Notes app should be more powerful word process (fonts, text size etc)
8)All Grouping of contacts for test message e.g. friend and family groups.
9)App for grouping key social networking sites(for posting universal photos, text to all social networking sites together.
10) Auto spell check in safari browser (like mozilla) when adding text in twitter, facebook leaving comments at blog etc.
11)Build in Flash in camera for night photo shot
12) Front facing camera for video Chat
13) Use cover flow for using multitasking third party apps (limit to 5 apps, not to drain the battery life)
14)Thin quick time player app to run video downloaded from web.
15)Group notification alert or not attended tasks(missed MMS, SMS, PHONE, Chat message, meeting, event etc)on single screen.

1. Flash is not happening.

2. Not happening. The iPhone does multithreading quite well. Apple has decided not to do application level multitasking anytime soon. It eats up lots of ram. This would kill the classic iPhone and the 3g fast.

3. I see no problem as long as the filespace is not where the phone stores DRM media or the OS.

4. I would like to see this.

5. Not that big of a deal to me. I guess it could be fun.

6. ??????

Comment edited to say, "I think I get it now. You want to put the phone into landscape without tilting it." It could be fun. What would you use it for (Could come in handy in space).

7. They probably just want to keep it simple.

8. ??????

9. ??????

10 This would eat lots of ram and lots of cycles.

11. This would eat lots of space.

12 see 11.

13 Battery life is less of an issue than ram.

14. They kind of have it.

15. ??? are you talking about putting all the notifications on the same dialog box?

Sorry for the ??? to some of your comments. It has been a long day and my brain is starting to stall out. I don't think I quite understood what you were saying. It was my fault not yours.

hmm. Pay 700$ for a phone with the same memory (i bought the 3g in October of this year), just so my phone will move faster? Or wait until next October and upgrade for much cheaper? Unfortunately, patience is not one of my strenghts, and I need this phone to move fast, and I need it to move fast NOW. Sign me up.

I just checked the new pricing - what an unbelievable money gouge by AT&T. They want to charge you $1.99 a month for a detailed bill? That's absurd. The new feature for "voice dialing" is another five bucks a month? This on top of the increased monthly price from the original iphone and charging extra for text messages now?

I'll pass.

I showed up at 7am and there was maybe 5 or 6 people hanging out waiting. I asked if this was the line for the LG Dare :p

I preordered mine, so I got to skip the line of people already there waiting which was nice. The whole process was seamless and quick. I was very impressed at how fast and easy it was. My wallet was feeling a bit light after all was said and done, but it was well worth it. :)
