apple store is down. there is some hardware or software pending for sure
by upsbryant June 8, 2009 9:56 AM PDT
that could be the case, but I doubt it

Pretty high, I guess. Snow Leopard and the price cuts to the laptop lines.

If the iPhone had Flash, Apple wouldn't be able to milk its cash cow. That's why Mr Steve says NO FLASH. He likes a walled garden. Well, the walls came tumbling down this weekend. The Palm Pre is way ahead of the iPhone in almost every way.

And Flash will be on the Pre by years end and there are 100s of thousands of very creative Flashers waiting for their chance.
by leoashton_dotmac June 8, 2009 11:22 AM PDT
Flash is a joke, we need an open platform and flash isn't it, the iPhone doesn't need flash, If the website cares to deliver their content to everyone they can use open standards. The Pre is nice competition, but that is all it is.
by joelFiser June 8, 2009 12:55 PM PDT
Is a standard something that the whole World uses on virtually every browser (98%) like Flash?

Or

Is a standard whatever the currently appointed (appointed by whom?) standards body says it is?
by Gadget70 June 8, 2009 1:49 PM PDT
After seeing what Google did with HTML 5 in Google Wave, maybe Stevo saw the writing on the wall for Flash.

by ghoppe2 June 8, 2009 9:59 AM PDT
Didn't they announce it already. Because we know about it :)
by zishbu June 8, 2009 5:52 AM PDT
OS v3.0 release date will probably be announced, but not released today. I too wonder what non-iPhone announcements will be made this week...

Rumors of an apple netbook (with touchscreen) could be confirmed... Or totally ignored.

by Alberto_Fernandez_Navas June 8, 2009 6:53 AM PDT
Well... last month they where selling the Iphone for U$200 no strings attached (sadly I found out late)... so.. they might have been wanting to get rid of the current Iphone because they got newer, better, cooler Iphone ....

Can't help but wonder why you guys haven't set up some sort of mobile site. I love cnet and always come here for the tech news but do you guys honestly think that we can all stop what we are doing for the duration of the keynote and look at your live feed? we are excited about this but some of us have jobs that do not permit sitting at a computer. just a thought.

When she got there... they where all sold out and said "it was a sale that we had in all apple stores till existance, there are no more phones with the international free no plans sale"...
