i bet this has to do with a cursed product! everytime i get out of my mthrs "peace-o-crap" ford escort, i get a sick "lightning-style" shock! but then out of my friends "well-trusted" Mercedes Benz, and well then no shock! (true story...) it has to do with the company, not giving us, what the company, should be giving us!!! so ppl curse the prduct, and the more ppl, that curse the product (all together as one) - THEN THE FREKEN GODS LISTEN!!! the product will then malfunction, shock its users - n, blah blah blah, blah blah ... =( the gig is up apple, give us our fair share - of our fair share, already!

for example. by apple limiting the product, when the product is virtually umlimted - this go make ppl mad, and the more ppl that become mad ( all together as one ) zap! zap! zap! zap! zap!

the product in my mind, is cursed.

You know, it was funny the first time. Even the second time, it still had some staying power. But now it's just tired and begging to go home.

Way to ruin your own joke, dude.

@Sporter86 You say you are a engineer, but obviously your comment above makes you seem a bit lost. I would love to hear a full rundown of your hebetudinous thesis, on how it's a change in Apple's hardware. I am a hardware engineer so I would love to take your thesis as a side note even though it probably will be worthless since you do place electricity.

In other news I'm going to sue the WIND for blowing a tree over onto my BMW! Seriously if anyone takes this article or is going to try and start a law suit for a fundamental force in this world, then you must be the type of person who drops HOT coffee on them selves yet sues because the cup didn't say it was hot. In all honesty they do care for there customers and informed people about the issue even though it wasn't the hardware Zapping people insanely.

Who want's a cookie, Please don't gain a pound off it. I do not want to be sued. Lol

Another reason to wear conventional headphones instead of earbuds.

This is a big problem on the iPhone. I've only been shocked once or twice, but I'm pretty sure the static electricity is causing my ipod to start sometimes when I put in my earbuds.

I've been shocked while using the earbuds on my ipod touch. It's only slightly annoying. I usually hear a crackle and it isn't at all painful. Glad to know I'm not the only one. Although it'd be nicer if it didn't happen at all.

I live in Utah, which has very dry air, and I bought the new Apple headphones and I've been getting shocks like crazy! It's very unpleasant. I'm hoping that Apple comes out with a new stereo bluetooth with the 3.0 update.

I didn't think I was a rocket scientist, but my first thought if I was in your shoes would be to try another pair of headphones and see if that solves the problem.

Or you can "suffer" an "unpleasant" experience until Apple comes out with something new. Your choice.

It's not a static shock. That "shock" transmit tiny nanobots that land in your cerebrum. There it sends message to your little brain saying: "Apple is the only thing in the world, nothing else exist"

Wow...and all this time I thought it was Hulu that we had to fear.

It's amazing how any story about Apple brings out the anti-Apple trolls, spouting their sophomoric "humour", moronic catch phrases, and idiotic portmanteaus.

This problem will only affect users in non-humid environments . I've never had a problem with any Ipod/MP3 player but then again I live in humidity central - South Florida

I've noticed this before from Sony earbuds (And from Apple earbuds back when I still used an iPod). I wondered then what the heck was going on. =P

I really don't get whats the potential danger, but it proves that ipod do suck. Seriously, I know it's not that bad but it did get incredibly annoying for me and those of you who experience this know what I am talking about and I am not being an IPod hater or anything and it did stop when I started using headphones so I guess it's alright FOR NOW.

I got tired of the static shock so I am getting an ooma box instead. Free phone calls! YAY! no more yearly bills adding up to $700. Now I pay ZERO for my phone calls.

This happened to me yesterday, I was running on the treadmill (I do drag my feet when I run) and I received a shock in my left ear. Now my headphones cut in and out when I listen to them.

Not happy bout this.... :(

I have an iPhone 3Gs and when connected to USB to my 17" MacBook Pro I continuously get shocked in my ear every few minutes. This occurs far too often for it to be static, as I am plugged into the wall, so everything "SHOULD" be grounded if constructed properly. It seems to be coming from the metal speaker grate and sparking my ear, as I have my phone encased in a plastic shell that covers the metal edges of the case.

Apple, I love you, but if your listening, you should fix this before it becomes a bigger problem.

Regards, Huge Apple Fan
