Peer-to-peer networking has unlimited potential. Hardly "boring" 1812dave.

I'm thinking it will be called something less offensive than 'squirting'.... LOL

I've seen it previewing with the whiteboard app.

multitasking is a no-go. The Pre is looking better and better

The esthetics still trump for me. Preference. Though, I still think when it can be perfected and not cannabalize the battery life it will happen.

Smartphone users need something like the Pre, if for no other reason than to continue to drive innovation.

Good catch there :) Also I see "openURL" which makes a lot of the copy/paste needs go bye-bye (Though I'd be LOST with out cut/copy/paste on my PalmOS I use it 10s of times per day. (forums, comment sections like this, saving stuff to memos etc)

Our PalmOS "multitasking" (e.g. Background Operation) is basically the same thing, leverage on the Notification System, but it's not server based Not too sure about that :-/

Regarding Kent German's comment: "...it would be nice to send contacts and other data files through Bluetooth without needing an app."

What does he suggest; Telepathy?

Regardless of how good the iPhone is or will be in the future, going by the Verizon commercials... "IT'S THE NETWORK" and AT&T SUCKS!!!

iPhone will NEVER reach it's full potentials in the US unless we have the kind of network that's been available in the EU & Japan for ages. US is still superior in the outdated technology aka Landline network BUT way behind when it comes to Mobile network.

You got that right. AT&T blows!
by Tergon March 17, 2009 10:45 AM PDT
A CDMA radio (verizon/Sprint/Small US companies) in the Phone would Suck your battery out much faster than already happens. Wait til 2010 when VZW and other switch to 4G LTE systems and probably you'll see a iPhone on these networks
by abcd9009 March 17, 2009 1:47 PM PDT
@Tergon,

There's a reason why Apple finally went with AT&T and I am not saying because it has a good network, which we all know AT&T SUCKS but the main reason is... unlike VZW or Sprint, there are only 2 networks available nationwide which are on GSM (standard Mobile technology used worldwide) - AT&T and T-Mobile.
Getting a phone on GSM network means only working on 1 technology to launch the phone worldwide regardless of which carrier provides it - which translates to less development cost.

Take any CDMA phone to EU and they will just throw it away even if you give it for FREE.

Bottom line, thanks to the GSM network and a large customer base, AT&T will ALWAYS have an edge over VZW when it comes to phones

I agree with German: "I'd like to see one umbrella push system for all linked e-mail accounts. The functionality seems to be a bit scattered as they're currently describing it."

Blackberry bold and storm are lightyears ahead anything Apple has. iPhone is like a stoneage device compared to the innovation that Research in Motion brings to the market

Apple will continue to play catchup to the Blackberry Storm and fail in doing so

"Apple will continue to play catchup to . . . Blackberry (and Palm)"

yes because iPhone is a Fledgling Device, Think of the Problems both of our companys (BB and Palm) faced when they first started (BB had an advantage b/c of it's bacvkground in Email, and palm had a leg up b/c of PDA just as the iPhone was a ready made MediaPlayer immedatly (which you BB users are just now getting)
by seven7dust March 17, 2009 12:17 PM PDT
which is why the storm was released 1 yr after the IPhone !
and now they r adding a appstore too sounds awfully familiar to me !
so who's catching up again ?
by homercles82 March 17, 2009 10:51 AM PDT
This diabtetes app is scaring me. If it is not 100% failproof and reliable they are opening themselves up to lawsuits.

All that stuff about multitasking eats battery is nonsense. That means Apple is doing sth wrong with their OS. In a proper multitasking (mobile) OS, the OS wouldn't be wasting cycles on apps that are not doing anything. Therefore it can't really eat more battery (but it will eat memory). Their OS development team must be total bozos.

i'm still confused on the maps feature... there's a picture of a legit-looking GPS, is that apple's map app, or a 3rd party already for sale?
