Apple's all-in-one desktop is getting closer to a refresh, according to a Kaufman Brothers analyst, though Apple may be trying to figure out if it should use dual-core or quad-core processors.

Get_Bent says,
"Dell _does_ sell the XPS One machine that is very similar to the iMac. However, for $1,599, Dell's machine comes with a Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 CPU, 4GB of memory, and a wireless keyboard & mouse. This is the competition that Apple turns a blind eye to or says "That's not our style." I'll take substance over style any day."

The XPS model you speak of also carries an integrated graphics chipset. To move up to 24" XPS with a dedicated GPU, it's $1899 with Vista Home Edition. If your going to compare machines, be sure to check all the specs before you deliver such an obvious slant against a particular company's machine. True on one count though (as suggested by some other posters'), is that the next Imacs should have a quad processor option (at least). I'm not totally sure i7 chips would be the best advice though, without a serious case re-design to account for the extra heat. It would be nice though. Get with it Apple!!

it's funny how no matter what the article actually says about the Mac , it always turns into a Mac vs. PC debate. If you don't like Mac, don't look at the article. Also funny that people are still under the impression that Mac has limited software and not compatible.
