Microsoft, leave the iPhone and the Apple platform alone.

If M$ wants to get on top of the game again, all they have to do is release the next version of windows and put a monopoly on utilities to fix windows problems.

M$ = Stuff Will Break

Oh, stop the shilling, hc2008. Microsoft software has been on the iphone since they released it for the 3G network. Activesync, the software that allows the phone to synchronize with a corporate exchange server, is microsoft's baby. Without activesynch, the iphone would have never been used in the corporate world. The iphone is better for it.

Well at least Microsoft is not stealing from Apple this time. :)

"To all those who say Mac's are too expensive, get a job!",

So people those with extra cash should just by a Mac because they have enough money? I just think it's wasteful to buy something that only exists because of Apples deceptive advertising campaign. I can see buying an iPhone because it's different and new. But a Mac desktop? LOL. They couldn't get 95% of desktops as MS did, so what did they do? They started making fun of PC's in a dishonest way to gain market share from iTards who are clueless and fall for it due to their Stockholm syndrome. There's this delusion that Macs are better because we always hear about the errors on Windows machines. Yet we hear of errors because they are everywhere and very common because the platform is common. There may have been a slim few years where Apple had some advantages, but it's not true at this point.

Apple marketing simply exploits every negative microsoft news story and then claims they are best, when they are simply obscure. In fact virus writers don't even want to fool with a machine so few care about. With 95% of desktops out there, of course you will hear of more problems. You know what a problem is? Not being able to find the software you need to do the job. Or worse dishing out $1500 on a mac to run just one special app that is favored on mac when it could easily run faster on pc had it been compiled on that platform. Now THAT's annoying. And all because Jobs has brain washed people and a small hand full of developers into this, "Think Different" Garbage he dribbles. It couldn't be that he wants to make a profit.. Nahhh..

jobs builds his business around brain washing some into thinking he's this original messiah. He attacks ever university, advertises in major movies. Then iTards show up to annoy people. As for the "get a job" theory, I could easily feel my house with Macs, so it's not a lack of money. I have money, because I save it and don't blow it on stupid garbage. Facts are Facts. You can run nearly anything you want without buying a Mac, and Macs are no better. As for those who argue about quality, that's only a perceived thing. A Mac is a Mac, but with PC, you can buy anywhere from low end, to very high quality and all for less than Mac.

But again with popularity comes issues. Put it this way. If Mac could suddenly be as popular as PC and windows, OSX would be ripped to shreds by viruses over night. It's "stable" software base would be diluted by tons of electic sharewares and surprise software all the same. And besides. The more popular mac becomes the more they end up like windows anyway (not a bad thing really). There was a time when they made fun of Intel too. That's the way Apple markets. They make fun of things, it's true. But when they couldn't keep up, they finally started using Intel. In my opinion. While it has a small place with some specialized software, Mac is really just a useless side track for idiots and nothing more than a brand name. As it gains popularity all the stories will become just like windows. I just can't see any point in "thinking different' blah blah.. Such market hype and a brand name. Guess I'm just sick of this iSnobs showing up always trying to tell PC users what to do. Basically the only reason Apple is succeeding is that they've succeeded in good marketing for a brand. Maybe one day, Apple will dominate 95% of desktops. The young clueless kids will get their way, thinking they've won, And then all the virus writers will attack them. Then a new generation of iTards will be born. Only they will desire windows instead, lol. and only because they are the new underdog etc. Macs will be $399 and windows machines will then be more expensive do to their rarity.. .

"Well at least Microsoft is not stealing from Apple this time. :)"

And yet another example of the smug attitude Apple endorses where they think get their fans thinking everything originates from Apple, and everyone else is stealing from the brainchild sj, LOL. It's this extreme false pride/attitude that sells it. Very clever on Apples part. Ever notice when Apple fans show up in news groups what usually happens? That's right. They usually start claiming someone stole someone from Apple. It could be true, or not... But this personality type always worries about this. That's because they need to be a fan to justify all that cash they just got taken for, ROFL! I mean, what good is getting ripped off by Apple if someone offers something similar for 1/2 the price? Not fun eh? But then even if Apple didn't invent something first, they always assume their leader Steve Jobs created it. Side trivia... How many people here know that Microsoft saved Apple about 15 years ago when their stock was tumbling towards zero by buying hundreds of millions of dollars worth of shares? Is this MS vs Apple war really a war or do Bill and Steve know something you don't? Yep, yep. It's all nothing more than a marketing game.

Wow, have we sunk to the level of deleting posts now? Guess I'll put it back. Let's not hide the truth.

Again, if It had not been for Microsoft, Apple would probably not exist today. had Bill Gates not bailed out a "desperate" Apple Corp in 1997.

Muhahahaha, more proof that some Apple fanbois are brainwashed deniers who go well beyond the pathetic, rofl.

@ Jonathan Monahan
Try again to compare the prices lol, I can build 2 -if not 3- PCs for the price of a Mac made of the exact same -if not better- components... This tells a lot on how they are ripping -all of- you off over the hardware, but hey you seem to love that, it is like a cult. Last year i reviewed some of their amazing offers, they were just selling you the 8800GT as an option for no less than twice its price ($399 vs $200). Ludicrous.

I don't understand why this is a surprise to anyone. Microsoft sells software and is in the business of making money. We have been told for months now that Microsoft is working on an iPhone application because... surprise surprise... they will be paid for every download.

It must have been a huge surprise to Apple fans when Apple released iTunes for windows...

Microsoft does this so that they can entice Apple to support Silverlight in iPhone in the future. You hear it here first!

Since apple won't support flash, I doubt they'll support silverlight. It is an interesting thought.
by ranpha December 16, 2008 1:19 AM PST
Photosynth (which is based on Seadragon technology) already has a experimental Silverlight viewer at http://photosynth.net/silverlight/photosynth.aspx?cid=2cd3d3f7-2139-4d99-bf2a-d2930c3c33da
Seems that Silverlight has more chances of being included with iPhone than Flex or JavaFX.

I have just read every comment here... SSDD. Microsoft zombies and Mac "elitists" scrapping over who's better. This is not rocket science....

If you want poor stability, inferior construction (notice I said "construction" not "parts"), vulnerability to system attacks, updates that take 7 years, and an operating system that resembles swiss cheese.... and if you don't need it for anything but playing games and posting on myspace...buy a generic PC with Windows... and then go buy all the extra stuff you need to add to make it capable of doing those things...

If you need quality, stability, security, uninterrupted work flow, integrated management tools for home and office... if you want have fun, AND play games, AND work at the same time... buy a Mac with OS X... and just take it out of the box... everything you need is already there.

Our entire office switched to Mac/OS X 5 months ago.... leaving an average of 6 days a month production lost to Windows issues behind, and loving the non-problematic environment that Microsoft will never be able to understand, let alone produce.

Windows 200 and later has great stability, just as good as as OS X or Linux barring hardware problem. Or do you want to claim that OS X is immune to bad RAM or failing hard disks better than Windows? About security, it seems that the higher its (OS X) marketshare has become, more news about it being targeted surfaced.

BTW, Apple do not have a polished intergrated management tools for home or office, Windows do. Apple do not have things like GPO, Active Directory support etc.
And it cannot play games, I can easily list 20 titles that do not support OS X. Boot Camp of course not counted.

Will you all quit fighting like old women. Her is the bottom line.

Apple has good graphics and a good OS

Windows has a decent OS but an Excellent office product.

Apple seems to lack the concept in of cheap computers.

Windows doesn't update the OS enough.

They need to come up with computers that are cheaper and have more power. Make some real cut throat competition instead of trying to make there products look as pretty as possible.

Get your mind out of the green you have and find ways to increase that green!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This looks like a pretty neat app and one I'll be adding to my Touch. I'm glad to see Microsoft releasing the application.

For the rest of you folks engaged in your OS holy war, I can only say one thing:

Grow up.

@AppleProLeo

1. This is not Microsoft. This is Microsoft Live Labs which was started to develop cross-platform tools geared for the internet, which has never been platform specific.

2. Seadragon Mobile was not written just for the iPhone. It is a mobile spinoff of a cross-platform program which is based off other cross-platform utilities, like Silverlight and Remote Scripting.

3. Microsoft has been using Remote Scripting, which is Java based, since the 90s. That means they have been programming for other platforms for over a decade. Seadragon Mobile is just the first application that iTunes sells from Microsoft.

Quit being a poncy troll.

bob- touche! I can finish your comment though... if one likes Windows... you can still buy an Apple, and run Windows on it. Why anyone would want to screw up such an amazing piece of hardware with inferior software is beyond me, but there are those who have done it.

@AppleProLeo: what ever. That Microsoft commercial that showed all sorts of PC users blew Apple into the next universe. There's no wonder you're market share sucks. High prices, dont allow clones, pretty pathetic users.

Get a life.
