With the new MacBook unveiling on Tuesday, the blogosphere is alive with the latest rumors and pictures of Apple's new hardware.

I think you mean mini-dvi not mini-dvd. Unless they plan to only allow 80mm DVDs in the MacBook. That would save a lot of space.

My current, 3-month-old Macbook (the outer shell) chipped at the place where I rest my right hand to type.
It's a semi-small chip, but it's almost enough to expose the technology underneath the case...yikes.

And now these new (hopefully more reliable) Aluminum cases are looking more tempting than ever.
If only I had waited to get mine...

Aluminium case would be great - how about Apple give a free one to everyone who bought the ridiculously thin topped Apple 'CrackBooks' of the previous generation (I'm on my second topcase which is cracked again on the front edge...two weeks after being replaced) Jonathan Ives or whoever was responsible for that previous MacBook design that slices your flesh as you type and then falls to bits through having it's lid shut should be held to account for it.

I have had my MacBook for almost 3 years and have no troubles with it. What are you doing to yours to cause such issues. It's a computer, not a frisbee.

Dear MCO JERRY...I am happy to hear your Mac is well, but I have never used my computer like a frisbee, and FYI Apple replaced these top cases free of charge because they recognised that there were many of them cracking and that it was an issue they could not totally ignore (a small amount of web searching should make this abundantly clear) - what they didn't do was make the replacements any better or change the design, and thus my dissatisfaction arises...

I have to disagree MCOjerry. I have a macbook myself, and the same thing is happening to my computer. More importantly, though, is that it is a mac, and it's pretty, and it DOES make a great frisbee with that hard drive sensor!

I love the Macbook Air trackpad and keyboard!! I hope that apple implements these designs into their new Aluminum Macbooks! I would love that! October 14th can't come soon enough.

The MacBook Pro is really prone to dents, carrying it with school books (which is a very normal thing to do) can be risky, resulting in small dents or impressions. My friends first gen MacBook Pro parts of the notebook seem to be lifting, like the hand rest and and trimming. Otherwise, its working well, but they are not physically sturdy.

i have a powerbook 12 inch.. and it got me through a masters degree, phd..a few undergraduate classes I was responsible for.. .. a postdoc.. and now a wife and 4+1 year old.. no dents.

Apple is releasing a slight revision to the Macbook, and it makes headline news. Meanwhile, Antec releases pictures and specifications of the most ground-breaking, drool-able high-end computer case of all time, and it goes unnoticed! Is there a rumor about a realistic price for the rest of us? Or are they just going to forgo one of the useful things we have been using for years and make us all move to a more obscure new technology?

I hope to see some dedicated NVidia graphics chips on the lower end units. Intel's integrated graphics processors are terrible, and don't seem to save much in the way of battery life or heat.

In a perfect world, we will see a base model Macbook with at least 256MB NVidia graphics in a sleek metal case starting at $799.

I had a question regarding this keynote presentation. I am ecstatic about the new macbooks though unfortunately I purchased one last year so I probably won't get another for 2 years or so. But, I was wondering whether the entire event would focus on computers. I bought an ipod touch 2G the week it came out and sold my old one because I wanted to use the microphone capabilities. Unfortunately they haven't released the headphones o developers aren't making apps for the ipod touch mic. Will apple release the headphones with the mic for the ipod touch tomorrow because Jobs said they would in october and another event this month seems unlikely? Just a question...

And one more thing...When will Apple release Snow Leopard? I am sure it will not be tomorrow but is it soon?
