Apple's invitation leaves us with a pretty clear idea of what Steve Jobs and company will be talking about.

Bring it on! Waiting long for this. Would be nice if they bring 13 inch laptop under 1.5 kg.

My 1st gen Macbook is still going strong, but from the start I've had one gripe that also applies to many PC laptops: Intel integrated video. If they take care of that one point, they will have made the laptop that many Mac users have been wanting: a non-professional level Apple notebook with good video!

$800? Damn - it might be worth retiring my ancient Vaio Z1RA for one... I'm hoping the 13" screen isn't going to be mandatory, though.

this may be a stupid question but does anyone know if apple usually releases the new laptops immediatly (within a week of announcing) or does it take a little while?

Usually they do, but rarely they make you wait about a week or two.

I am also wondering how long it will take to see the new product. I am getting ready to buy a MacBook Pro as soon as my financial aid refund finally comes through and if I could save some money, it would be very nice. I don't really need the power, my reason for buyin a Pro is that I don't want a tiny 13" screen to look at all the time! Heck, I would go for the 17" screen if it wasn't both expensive and heavy. I'd be a very happy camper if we got an $800 price point AND the ability to upgrade the screen size on the basic model. Whatever happens, I'm getting my first MacBook within the next few weeks and I can't wait!

I'd like to see a 13" MacBook with iPhone-esque touchscreen capabilities.
