USB power adapters sold with the iPhone 3G in the U.S. and certain other countries could possibly break and leave the metal prongs behind in an electrical socket.

Power adapters get recalled all the time, as do batteries. Relax. It was tested by UL, which means that they didn't find the problem either. But with abuse over months (some people are really, really abusive to their property) a flaw has been found. And apple is fixing it. What exactly is the big deal?

It's sad how people seem to automatically assume that the problem is in manufacturing, just because something is from China or some other "slave labor" market. Did it EVER dawn on any of you Apple Fanboys that the defect might actually be (gasp) design related? If the connection prongs pull away from the charger housing, perhaps someone over in industrial design didn't design in a proper restraining clip? Perhaps?

Since I don't own either gen of the iPhone, I don't know what the difference is between the chargers with the first round vs the second gen. But I DO seem to have the opinion that, "if it ain't broke, *** do you fix it?" Simply 'cause you be a slave to style? To fashion?

I completed the form for the replacement, but it won't let me request two. I have one at the office, and one at home ... what's the best way to tell Apple their system is too limited.
