The nano shake has been done by Sandisk. Voice recording done by various other mp3 players. Genius playlist has been done by Amazon. Pretty unoriginal.

No, you are not alone. I have the 160gb and it's full. I was SO hoping for a bigger one! Now what happens if my current one breaks? Do I have to buy a 120gb and get rid of 25% of my library? Perhaps, though, a 240gb one is on the horizon. The 160gb used 2 80gb HDs and 80gb was, until recently, the max for a 1.8" HD. About a year ago, there was an announcement about Toshiba 120gb HDs, but they weren't supposed to be in production until 2009. Apparently, though, Seagate started producing 120gb drives sooner, and they are in the new Zune. Clearly, the new classic has a single 120gb drive, because Jobs said they were getting rid of the "thicker" classic (i.e., the one with dual HDs). Maybe I'm naive, but I'm hoping they'll produce a new classic with dual 120gb drives after they see how the single drive ones do.

So the only hardware update to the itouch is the volume control?. Does that mean that when I get 2.1 on Friday and i get all the features like genius that they were discussing? I am going to wait till at least then to see how 2.1 plays with my current device.

Pay $9.99 for a software update that fixes bugs? I'm sure there are some improvements and it's not that much money, but that seems stupid. Is there some legal reason to do that?

It's an accounting thing. Apple, for some reason, chooses to recognize all the revenue associated with the iPod Touch up front, while it recognizes revenue from iPhone sales over a 24-month period. That means they have to demonstrate value for future software releases to the iPod Touch--by charging a fee--while iPhone users get those same updates for free.

Just how many more tmes will Touch owners have to pony up the cash for this bogus accounting charge? Just price up the units $10 originally more and deal with it. This is complete malarkey and Touch owners get shafted once again. Thank you Apple for respecting your customers' wallet- err, I mean values.

What are you smoking? It's been available for a few years now.

Nothing about the Macbook? so disappointed. Now the question, should I wait or just buy the macbook now, since the educational deal with the 299 rebate on the itouch is still available for a few days.

Looks like I'm still going to be upgrading every other generation with iPods (i usually pick stuff up on the odd numbers starting on 3). If this is what we have for 4G nanos, I look forward to 5G (that'll hopefully have blue tooth or wifi to wirelessly connect to computers or at least something uselessly cool like adding vibration function to sync with music).

For those touting around their Zunes, keep 'em high! We'll need more competition to force Apple to keep innovating.

why why why no modifications to their over-restrictive sdk ?? this is really hurting quality application development for iPhone/Touch/Pod. Especially for anything "enterprise".

Meh... the iTouch prices haven't come down enough, and I was also really hoping for a 64mb iTouch. I guess I'll be waiting some more....

Whom do I contact or email at Apple to get my $200 credit for buying my 32Gb Touch less than two months ago at $500? Now that they have released a new model at $200 less with new features, I expect them to honor their obligation that they have set prior with iPhone pricing last year with a credit made out to me.

I accept cash, checks, money orders, or even Paypal. I do NOT accept credit at an Apple store or iTunes credit either. I bought my Touch with real money and expect the same back.

If Apple doesn't honor their prior precedent in iPhone pricing now on the Touch, then they may need to consider the damages that may result in their PR by shafting any and all prior Apple iPod Touch owners.

The new 32gb Touch is now $400. $100 less, not $200.

Perhaps you were looking at the new 16gb pricing.

"Genius" is "pretty good, huh" - well, to HIS tastes - maybe. Mixing Dylan and Donovan is not that hard.
But what if I like Fusion, or Eclectic - and that AI will keep feeding me all the old same???

Now that Apple gets to decide what do we listen to... Oh you Omni-Potent Ubiquitous Laziness of Humankind!!!

I have the old nano paired up with the bluetooth wireless headset from JayBird and they both work really great! They are a perfect match and I wouldn't change them for anything. I don't know why they try so hard to come up with new models when the old ones are awesome.
