- The premise that an unfair advantage exist for internet vendors is flawed. The advantages are for the brick and mortar and internet only vendors are just different. The internet vendor has the price advantage that results from not having sales tax included in the sale, but the disadvantage of delivery delay and shipping charges. The brick and mortar vendor has the advantage of immediate possession and no delivery charges to the purchaser. A sales tax imposed on internet sales would disadvantage the internet only vendor to sale only to those who are immobile, recluse, or too busy to venture to the local retailer. If status quo is changed in the manner that the states or brick and mortar vendor would like, many small vendors could no longer continue to operate.
