- FiveThirtyEight.com must be seen to be believed. I think Silver has successfully created a new paradigm that goes way beyond polling. Whether or not he's accurate in this case, I doubt that everyone will continue to simply rely on polls.

(4 Comments)I'm surprised that this interview didn't go into the guy's background in statistics. I presume he's been exposed to classical statistical methods, but I still wonder about the source, e.g., college major, minor, elective(s), one or both of his parents, or just curiosity... I know a few baseball fans, and they seem to have gleaned quite a bit about statistics via osmosis.
