Comments on: Ron Paul: I'm the Republican who 'gets' young voters

Web favorite Ron Paul addressed young voters in MySpace and MTV's "presidential dialogue," but the question of tech policy didn't make an appearance.

Come on now. The writer of this article wants to appear unbiased, which she manages to do, sort of, until the very last line of her piece. Then her politics show. She disses the candidate, subtly, thinking we're all so stupid as to be blind to that. Well, duh.

She's from Manhattan. Do you think her "buds" in journalism and elsewhere on that island have no stake in this election? What happens if we the People no longer allow the media to choose our frontrunners and/or our President? The media loses the power they've cautiously built and safeguarded at the expense of the truth all these years.

Get real. By the way, I'm not some young college student. I'm over fifty now, and contrary to at least one comment here, the revolution's not dead. It's just beginning. My generation is overdue for a fist fight anyway, the one we were denied over that little altercation called Vietnam. Only now we finally see the true enemy to the people of America and our freedoms--the Federal Reserve.

Want to get Congress to show us all where their true loyalties lie? Pay your taxes all right, even if that is illegal, but quit paying your credit cards. Hit 'em all where it really hurts in a way they can understand. If enough of us did that, then Congress would have to do something, or the economy nosedives like a rock in water.

We have the power to control Congress, but not enough of us know that--yet. Not like those bankers of the Federal Reserve are going to tell us either. They just like to keep us in fear, one with the IRS, and two, with our over-glorified credit ratings. It's when we refuse to believe in these imaginary fears that we begin to see the loopholes. Yeah, if the nation simply quit paying their credit cards, we'd see a whole lotta change going on.

6% of Americans like Ron Paul.

94% think he is a raving lune. 6% of Americans think the gold standard is a good idea. 94% think it would destroy this country.

6% of Americans think that Elvis Presley is cruising around Beta Proxima in a UFO.

OK. So this author is subtly dis'ing Paul. Not surprising since THEY all know his candidacy is way more influential than ANY in power (republican, democrat, media) would like the general public to know. Ron has good core ideals - period.

BUT!!! You just suggested that everyone NOT PAY THEIR CREDIT CARD BILLS! Am I in OZ, or are you an idiot? That's lunatic! You bought something on credit and therefore promised, by virtue of your agreement, to pay your debt. WAIT!! Let's just all not pay our mortgages too! Why stop there? Let's run up big bills on all our store cards and not pay THEM either! Let's prove to the world that we're liars and cheaters. Just like all those folks we're griping about...

Great point Mr. Bushman.

Now, how about this instead. "Do all you have agreed to do, and do not encroach on other people or their property" (Richard Maybury, no affiliation, it's just really that simple)

I'd love to see the average IQ of these Paul supporters. Talk
about Slingblade! What a bunch of mouthbreathers. Half of
them won't go outside without their tinfoil hats on. 20% think the
trilateral commission has bugged their toilets. Another 20%
"done hate folk that ain't like them", which they think means
anyone not a white Christian...but in reality means anyone who
is sane, intelligent, and has most of their teeth. And the
remaining 10% just do what their old man tells them to do, else
they get knocked around. What a deluded mix.
You are misguided
by poindexteriii February 5, 2008 10:16 AM PST
While I believe Ron Paul is the ideal peoples choice, and that the Federal Reserve is a VERY evil private corporation bent on the ruin of the US economy. (Which the Grey's Commission, during Pres. R. Regan Admin., sent to audit all levels of the U.S. financial infrastructure reported that not one cent that entered the Fed through taxation ever returned to the US population in any form or service from, through, or by the government.) Your idea to not paying credit card bills is illegal, dishonest, reprehensible, and shortsighted. If you want to hurt the credit card industry, simply pay with cash or check. But I don't see the connection with CC's being a force of evil, I pay my bill on time and I don't incur interest, premiums, or prime rates, and they have to pay me a % return on my spending. If you cannot live within your means, your financial ruin is upon your own head. Don't blame someone else for it and don't say you were duped into spending more than you make.

What this country needs more of are honest, upright people like Ron Paul, not the masses defaulting on their obligations.

Sovereignty rules! Never forget Panama!
by NorseHorse February 4, 2008 7:56 AM PST
Ron Paul's message is indeed simple: it's protect American
sovereignty! Young people should also take a look at Dr. Paul?s
attempts to maintain American sovereignty over the Panama
Canal in the 1970s, shown in his newsletter.
http://www.tnr.com/downloads/freedomApril1978.pdf
We used to have sovereignty over the Panama Canal and much
more power in Latin America but those days are gone. Dr. Paul
argues passionately that a country as strong as America should
never let little countries like Panama, whose population is only
the size of Atlanta, be the boss. After the Canal was given up,
the globalist international bankers got a lot of payback, and now
you can see the result. A war to get back the Canal failed in
1989, but that would not have been necessary if we had retained
sovereignty. That group of greedy bankers and small Marxist
countries who reclaimed the Canal now threaten to take over the
entire United States. Go figure. The great US once had
sovereignty over other areas of the world as well, but now all is
being lost. The US would still be almighty if we had obeyed Dr.
Paul 30 years ago.

by jonsmallberries February 4, 2008 9:42 AM PST
If he's not a serious candidate with real support, then why is he still in the race after Giuliani and Thomspon (two candidates with much more apparent popularity and support) quit? The answer is he is legitimate, with real support, and also the only counterpoint to the other three candidates still running.

So in essence, he'll do nothing. Bush couldnt fix what ClintASS destroyed and now his husband, Hillarious The Smirk, wants to get elected so she can pound the final nail into the coffin of the USA? Intelligent people dont think so. Tell Ron to go back to whatever he was doing. Mitt will right this nation for once and for all.
RP supporters don't understand US politics.
by spankbot February 4, 2008 2:29 PM PST
There is no way in hell the GOP is going to nominate a candidate that can't win a single primary. I'm surprised the Ronulans don't understand this glaring bit of reality. Ron Paul basically no support - most people have either never heard of him or simply think he's crazy.

Something else is interesting about Racist Ron's campaign, he's been able to raise considerable donations - what the heck aren't they spending it!!!

You are right about one thing. The GOP won't nominate Paul. As far as your assertion that "Ron Paul basically no support"(sic) you are way off base. His numbers among standing Repulican members might not reflect this, but the groundswell of support is from people who couldn't care less what party he is affiliated with, a largely non-Rebublican base. Ron Paul WILL run a third-party campaign and WILL be our next President. Oh yeah, you are still parroting the "Racist Ron" routine?? Do a little resarch. That fairytale is only going to work for a little while longer.

by idareU2mov February 4, 2008 6:33 PM PST
What you wrote might just be the worst analysis of any topic I
have ever heard. First we have only had like 8 states vote, so to
say he can't win is ignorant. To call him a racist is really
misguided and judgmental on your part. I think your a racist sir.
I don't know you but I think you hate babies too. That's about
how accurate you are. The ironic thing about your comments
are RP supporters actually do understand government and that
we are a Constitutional Republic. The Constitution was written
to limit the powers of government to keep corruption out. You
sir don't understand true and pure government.

If you put the issues up without a face I would bet my life the
majority of America would like his positions. Ron Paul speaks to
the mind and not just a wave of emotion. You need to
understand policy to understand the beauty of his positions.
You sir should apologize for making ignorant statements.

p.s. why would you stop fighting for freedom because
mainstream media won't acknowledge the facts? We wouldn't
have America if people just rolled over like you...

Waaaaaaaah! There's a media bias!!!!
by JoshF1026 February 4, 2008 8:18 PM PST
What are you going to do about it?

Not Watch? Oh, I'm sure they'll miss that 1% of viewers!

Boycott the sponsors? I'm sure those sponsors will really notice!

Sue the media? Well that wouldn't be very Libertarian of you, getting the government involved. Plus, in a free market, media companies have the right to do whatever they want to maximize their profit

It's so sad all the whining from Ron Paul supporters. "It's not fair, there's a bias and a conspiracy, waaaaaah!" That's right. It's not fair. That's the nature of the free market, and over the last 250 years America has slowly passed law after law make it more fair. If you want to take that fairness away, then you have no right to whine about bias, so shut up, PLEASE!

Here's what I have to say to you,[hoping that you wont censor or alter my words in any manner]
I certainly have no say in American politics and my opinion may not matter much, but as a "Youth" and a "Student" and your "Neighbour to the North" I found the last comment of your article rather disgusting and "repulsive". youre entitled to your opinion, but plz dont insult younger people and insult their intelligence, American as well as Canadian students in my College are by far highly intelligent and able to understand Ron Paul's policies thats why he even has support in Canada, especially in big cities like Vancouver and Toronto, "greatly because of his monetary policies and his understanding and implementing of Austrian economics and the concept of sound money". By the way, I watched the MTV here in Canada, you still need to explain "How the heck did you know that young people were not happy by Dr. Ron Paul's comment that Youth understand his monetary policy?"
and finally a word of advise from a "young Engineering college student"; next time try to be objective rather than subjective as a "journalist" and learn how to choose your words carefully especially when youre going to insult a massive group of people based on your inability to understand someone's policy, who youngsters like myself can easily understand and comprehend. Also try to be fair even if its not in your nature just try to be fair.

Ron Paul is finished.

Your spamming the internet with Ron Paul BS failed.

Your money bombs failed.

Your "R3VOLUTION" failed.

You are a joke. Your anti-semitic, racist, wacked out senile candidate doesn't have a chance in hell to win.

9/11 wasn't an inside job, there is no giant Bilderberg plot, and your bong needs a rest.

Call me an "agent" of the zionists. Do what you please because it won't change the facts on the ground: Ron Paul will not be the next US president.

While I know a large amount of support come from anti-Americans that aren't even American, the ones that do hail from the US of A can go ahead and book a one-way ticket to Somalia to their "bliss" with anarchy.

Super tuesday is here, and Ron Paul won't be around much longer. Quit asking the public for money and to listen to your racist candidate.

Racist Candidate

Would the racist candidate be the one with the Hate Speech pastor or the one that likes "Whitewater" and dispises "Blackwater"?
Your choices are these...
by poindexteriii February 5, 2008 7:34 AM PST
Ron Paul (Individual Liberty, Small Government, and secure the peoples freedoms, get rid the Federal Reserve Private Corp ruining our monies value and absorbing our wealth, always votes according to the US constitution)...
-or-
Obama (who refuses to salute the flag, swares by a Koran and is a Liberal/Socialist) Clinton (promotes a Communist state government, which worked well for Russia) McCain (I'm for it... no wait, now I'm against it.. uh, who are you and what what's my agenda again?) Huckabee (big tax hikes hidden behind small tax breaks.. i.e. more in the Gov. pocket and less in yours)

Whoever is next will at least be a step away from Bush (the top 10 in the Fortune 500 in 1970 were oil families, in 1918 through Clinton were the Tech companies and Wal-Mart?s, since Bush the Oil Families are back on top. And oh yea, he comes from an oil family.) Also noteworthy is the amount of gold you would have to pay of a barrel of oil has not changed in 30 years... The value of the US dollar has dropped. Thanks for the War, Tax hikes, big Gov spending and the IRS for charging the American people for borrowing against the Fed.

Do your homework people. If we voe in any of these other cantidates to the Office of President of the U.S., mark my words, you can say goodbye to America and your Freedoms, and say hello to being implanted with microchips and told what to do via issued credit on these chips so if you disobey the Gov, they switch your chip off and you and your family starve. Not as far fetched as you think..(Again, do your homework, search terms: Amero, RFID & Government, Federal Reserve Owners, Executive Order July 2007, Obama salute, Clinton communist, McCain flip-flop, huckabee tax.)

An I say do your homework because the media is a privately controlled medium and as their private owners have private motives, they can be persuaded privately. (Search term: "intellectual prostitutes" 1953) AND THIS WAS OVER 50 YEARS AGO. SO HOW MUCH WORSE IS IT NOW?

Young people are listening to Ron Paul because we're tired of this
constant tax-and-spend, print more money and create more

Ron Paul was clearly the winner of this debate, there were a lot of "pre-rehearsed" questions strategically asked to Dr.Paul, and he walked trough them and came out victorious on each one, despite the "technical" difficulties that always seem to happen at a Fox sponsored event; this time the sound changed from third world country 50 years ago quality to crisp yet not loud enough.
RON PAUL 2008 the champion of the constitution, the only one who is looking after your future by freeing you of a debt you'll inherit with any other candidate, democrat or republican.

Why Ron Paul does not get the media attention of the legitimate candidates.
by ralfthedog February 5, 2008 2:52 PM PST
The media pays attention to a candidate based on poll results. When a candidate drops below a specific threshold in polling, they become irrelevant.

Early on, Ron Paul received quite a bit of attention. As polling results started coming in, he received less attention. Many people think he has received far too much attention because of his fund raising numbers.

Most if not all Americans have heard Ron Paul's message. 92% of Americans, after having heard him speak, think he is a freaking lune.

It is mathematically imposable for Ron Paul to win the nomination. If Ron Paul were to win every delegate from this point on, he would still come up short.

After loosing by the margin that he has, it would be very difficult to hold any elected office again. His best bet would be to start some kind of PAC (This would give him a platform to communicate his political ideas).
Let's All Slam Ron Paul
by KingLearjet March 25, 2008 9:46 PM PDT
How true. Ron Paul's ideas went out of style in the 1800's. To think that anyone should be able to live in this country with personal freedom and liberty is a dangerous concept. Let's bury all the ideas of people like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. If someone repeats these ideas now, then they must be a crazy radical.

Ron Paul opposes income tax and any war that has no clearly defined objective. That kind of thinking is certainly not for us today. We are much smarter than that. I'm sure glad we have all those other candidates that believe that taxes are really good for us and that we should have military action without a declaration of war.

I'm all warm and fuzzy now. How 'bout you?

FOR YOU ,PLEASE!

To all concerned Americans,
I am asking you to please go to www.RonPaul2008.com or just www.google.com and type in ?Ron Paul?.
You have more than two choices for president. We do not have to settle for what the government run media tells us we have to vote for.
Please ,you owe it to yourselves to get all the information on who he is before election day. Time is running out and America can not afford another four years of poor management. Ron Paul in my mind is the only hope we have for saving America.
We owe it to our selves to listen to what this intellegant, sincere man has to say.
You can also see videos of him speaking on www.YouTube.com .His financial advisor is Peter Schiff, another extremely smart man who knows his stuff on the economy.
We need to stand up for ourselves and stop letting the media tell us who is going to win or who we have to vote for . I do not know about you but I am tired of all the bickering and waste of time between some of the other candidates. Dr. Ron Paul makes no time for this. I am not telling you who you should vote for I am just saying you need to be aware of all the candidates not just the ones they want us to hear about. Tell your in and out of state friends and relatives to check it out also.
If you do not have a computer you can go to a library or some one you know who does.
Make the informed choice on who you want for president ,don?t just pick one because you think you have no other choice.
He speaks the truth, a straight talking politician for once, hard to fathem I know. Join with me and countless others who enjoy listening to him speak.
It?s not too late!
Thank You for your time.
