CEO of Undertone Networks Comments off base
by mpvgrowth October 25, 2007 7:43 PM PDT
He is not consider the power of companies to set up their own profiles and build friend networks nor the direct power of setting up contests, adding branded widgets, music, imbeded video, etc. Social networks are more than banner ad's, it's a more personal experience. I'm not saying it's not alot of money, but over several years, it's peanuts relative to the revenues both side will generate. There are millions of consumers and future consumers who use facebook who have or will have higher incomes in the future. Look at the average age? That's only going to keep growing as the years pass and social networks will be a way of life.

it's the facebook demographic that brings the value
by wylbur October 25, 2007 8:11 PM PDT
Facebook can deliver a demographic target (people who spent time
in 02138 and other Ivy covered zip codes) that is very desirable and
for which brand advertisers will pay a premium. It is a slice that
hard to get on the web, but very desired in any medium.

Facebood = another useless junk from Silicon Valley junk
by Info_Max October 25, 2007 9:48 PM PDT
I agree with a previous post in this regard.
That is Facebood is just another useless junk from Silicon Valley.
It is just another hype of a useless Web 2.0 company to justify its IPO or sale for ridiculous prices.

I mean what is new & innovative about facebook? What technology or feature or capability does facebook offer that are not available from
100s of different sources?
NOTHING.

What special value does facebook offer Advertisers that dozens of places dont already offer?
NOTHING.

I agree with the Value of advertising on Facebook
by kirksnotes April 21, 2008 9:01 PM PDT
I have found that when properly used the social network sites can
be a more effective medium to contact more relevant types of
prospects at a time when they are not in a Defensive posture
relating to marketing. they check their Profiles more often than
their Hotmail. Why? No Spam just people that took the time to read
thier profiles and respond. I have over 20 Profiles and i get relevent
responses each week from 50% of those Networks.I have also
created sites for many of MY client base.

About The Social

CNET News' Caroline McCarthy is a downtown Manhattanite who believes that, despite popular opinion, the Web can actually help your social life. She's happily addicted to fun social-media tools from Twitter to Yelp to Facebook, sends an inordinate number of text messages, and has a tendency to waste time at the office reading restaurant blogs. Here, she explores all facets of the Web's gregarious side, as well as the unique tech culture in her home city of New York. (Don't call it Silicon Alley.)
