I think I need to get a life

I started receiving the New Post messages about a week ago. Thought it was rolled out to everyone.

The new design is still a failure, although I suppose everyone will just have to live with it. They still have updates scattered all over the place and little control over the content we want to see on our home page.

Is it just me or is the Facebook iPhone app getting a little quirky? Selective twitter status updates don't even show up on for me anymore, just the icon.

Yep - mine's been showing this for over 24 hours - first saw it last night. I think it's a good move toward better usability.

I wonder if the reason Twitter hasn't been able to add a auto-refresh or update notification feature is because of the immense load it would cause to their server city (I'd imagine it's like a city lol). I mean after all they sometimes run into problems just running the site as-is.

I would love for the home page's filter to be adjusted a bit. Why is every single quiz to determine "what _____ you are" a separate application that I have to ask it not to show me anymore?

15 sites that went kaput in 2009

Web sites launch all the time, but they also shut their doors. We highlight 15 that bit the dust this year.

Top 10 news stories of the decade

Let the debate begin: Was the iPhone more important than iTunes? Was anything bigger than Google finding a great business model? CNET offers its list of the 10 most important stories of the '00s.

About The Social

CNET News' Caroline McCarthy is a downtown Manhattanite who believes that, despite popular opinion, the Web can actually help your social life. She's happily addicted to fun social-media tools from Twitter to Yelp to Facebook, sends an inordinate number of text messages, and has a tendency to waste time at the office reading restaurant blogs. Here, she explores all facets of the Web's gregarious side, as well as the unique tech culture in her home city of New York. (Don't call it Silicon Alley.)
