Twitter is like bad teen sex in the fact that people will try a few times seeing that they are making something and impacting people, so they get lazy.. They buy into a good robot to tweet for them- every time they "Do it" it half hearted and robotic. Does this get better results?? Or are you just grabbing a bigger, spamming, populous???

This is an interesting quote, but I disagree with the last part.
Actually, there are a lot of people doing social media VERY well.
Two who immediately pop into mind are @AlexisNeely and @MariSmith

Why are they doing it well? They are not only engaging with thousands of "followers" in broadcast and direct messages which builds their brands, but they are also sharing useful and motivational thoughts, selling quality products and services as well as growing their own subscriber base. These activities ultimately drive sales and increase exposure. In business, this is what social media is all about!

About The Social

CNET News' Caroline McCarthy is a downtown Manhattanite who believes that, despite popular opinion, the Web can actually help your social life. She's happily addicted to fun social-media tools from Twitter to Yelp to Facebook, sends an inordinate number of text messages, and has a tendency to waste time at the office reading restaurant blogs. Here, she explores all facets of the Web's gregarious side, as well as the unique tech culture in her home city of New York. (Don't call it Silicon Alley.)
