That damn song came out when I was about 6 years old, and at the time I hated it, no despised it. I never knew why, but it just made me cringe, even though I was so young, so much so that I asked my parents if we could leave a restaurant once when the video came up on a huge video screen in said restaurant.

Then, 20 years of peace went by, Rick Astley went away, and all of a sudden I get Rick Rolled one day. Thinking "well, this will go away fast" I was then bombarded with 9,000 new forms of Rick Rolling, all topped off by his performance in the damn parade.

I hate this song, perhaps more then any other song ever, it's something visceral that I can't even explain, and this is the song that comes back. Out of all the cheesy, corny 80s garbage, the cheesiest, worst one comes back to haunt me.

Why God?

"Never goning to give you up" was in reference to the Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and Bloo's Friend Mac never going to give Bloo up for adoption.

Believe me, my son watches too much of that cartoon on Cartoon Network that I know it. They even have video games based on it at cartoonnetwork.com

I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade but calling this a victory for the Internet is really stupid. The song was very popular WAY before the Internet was even around. I'm glad Rick takes humor in it, but to me it's just more* immaturity of this generation. I can't believe 4chan is getting this much publicity. Jesus, we sure know how to show these "people" love. Sigh.

Hey - I thought this was pretty fun and a nice tongue-n-cheek addition to a parade that features waayyyy too many boring Broadway song & dance breakouts. At least a little humor was injected into what can be a stilted event. And - get ready for it - I like the song. I think it has to do with age (as in 20 years ago doesn't seem that long ago to me right now.)

Millions of people loved this song, myself included. I'm old enough to remember when you could understand the words to music. Rick was a clean cut young man, as was I in the 80's. If you don't like the song, don't listen to it. Personally, I don't give a flip what anyone else thinks about it.

The problem is that sometimes people don't have a choice about listening to this song. That's the point of Rickrolling. It's almost as infuriating as clicking on a goatse link.
