Comments on: Why does the media love Apple and trash Dell?
The media loves Apple, trashes Dell, and gives HP a pass? Perception supposedly is reality, but just whose perception is it?

Web sites launch all the time, but they also shut their doors. We highlight 15 that bit the dust this year.
Let the debate begin: Was the iPhone more important than iTunes? Was anything bigger than Google finding a great business model? CNET offers its list of the 10 most important stories of the '00s.

Just to be clear, my point is that the media is paid to get eyeballs. Just because a commentor puts something in quotes doesn't mean I said it.
There is a distinction between accuracy and objectivity. The broad media should always strive to be accurate. It's very risky not to be. That said, there are many ways to position a story and remain accurate.
As for objectivity, well, let's just say that, if a writer makes that a goal of his or her writing, it can perhaps be achieved. How many do, I don't know. Writers reporting "news" typically do just that. Commentary, i.e. the blogosphere, has far greater "viewpoint" lattitude.
These days, the distinction between the two is not always clear. For example, what are "cable news" channels, news or commentary?
Also, Dell uses the cheapest and in several cases, made for Dell only, parts/materials. My repairman says to junk my yr. old Dell and get an Apple. Or have a computer custom made by pros. Around here, that isn't the BestBuy GeekSquad either. A good friend returned 4 times to get their new Gateway running right from BestBuy. But according to the pros around here Dell is at the level of eMachine and in some cases lesser.
Don't get me started on Microsoft. I wish and hope and pray for the day someone else develops an OS to compete against Microsoft. Vista is getting better according to my sources, but it is such a resource hog. I actually wish Google or someone would step up and develop an OS. Anyway, back to Dell. It IS junk IMO and there won't be another in this household. FYI, our computers ARE Dell but are running Linux and doing better.
Hey, with no support from Dell, who cares about warranty after their initial little few days return policy. And for those who don't realize it, their support/warranty is for hardware only, not software. Even if installed by them as bloatware. That's been my experience anyway.
