You can still buy a Sony Walkman... latest version is an mp3 player that comes in various memory sizes... and it costs far less than the equivalent ipod with the exact same features...

Not exactly true. The latest Sony Walkman does more than the equivalent ipod...plays mp3s, FM radio, and voice recorder for a fraction of the price.
