Comments on: Would Google destroy Digg or take it to the next level?

If Google does indeed acquire the social-news site Digg, the popular service could see its tight community flee, especially if it's flooded with newcomers.

Only if Google can write an algorithm to eliminate liberal bias and keep the voting and comments neutral. Too many pro-liberal and pro-Ron Paul people on Digg as it is. They write comments and submissions as heavily biased to their political views and ruin stories.

Unlike the postings on sites like this one where no one even mentions their own politic view in the comments...

They'll destroy it. It is Google, after all.

They'll ruin it. Those ugly Google ads will appear everywhere advertising Filipino women, Viagra pills, and money-making schemes. I know Kevin and company have been trying to unload Digg for some time now, but selling out to Google is a slap in the face to the users who have helped build the site. There has to be a better company out there that would preserve some of 'atmosphere' of Digg. Suffice to say, the day Google takes over Digg is the day I delete my account. I'd rather use Yahoo Buzz or NBC's Newsvine, so as not to be inundated with those crappy ads.

Getting rid of the liberal bias would be good for digg. Not only am I a democrat, I even worked on the John Kerry campaign. But the purpose of news isn't to make you feel good about your political biases or make you feel like you have friends. It is to provide unbiased information.

I know that when I go to digg I won't find unbiased news (not that it exists anywhere else for that matter) I'll find liberal rah rah garbage probably posted by college youngsters. Aside from the political articles there is a lot of other interesting stuff which I enjoy so I still read it quite a lot.

Google is great and they will probably improve digg somehow. YouTube is great I am sure digg will do just fine.
