I'm just going to put this out there... an ABBA-themed iPod.

I take it you've looked at the bingo card. Have you heard of the supposed leaked keynote outline? Register Hardware has a report about it here: http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/01/14/leaked_keynote/

Of course, if you play the bingo card, and the outline is real, that means someone out there is going to cry BINGO at the keynote if Steve says "Wouldn't it be great..."

I'll have to play the video later. Right now, I'll have to grumble over Portal not being ported to the Mac or Linux.

Macworld prediction..."Theres Something in the Air" refers to both a new wireless gadget and a new environmental campaign by Apple. 2008 is a great year to go green. Remember, just last May, Jobs released his open letter on Apple's environmental initiatives. Plus, Gore is on the board.

The predictions are all in. Simply put, it's impossible to guess. His Steveness has outfoxed us all. No matter what we guess, it won't match the reality. For good or ill. No one has gotten it completely right yet. He even introduced the iPhone when everyone thought Cisco owned the name. Only a few deep (DEEP) insiders have ever even SEEN the next new thing.

Having said that ? a friend, whose cousin's ex-wife's father's former high school football coach's nephew grooms dogs for a janitor at 1 Infinite Loop, tells me that His Steveness will finally introduce the multitouch beer label and the WiFi-enabled corkscrew (with 802.11n foil cutter). Of course, anyone who keeps up with the innertubes already knows this.

I know I wasn't supposed to tell, but I never could keep a secret.

15 sites that went kaput in 2009

Web sites launch all the time, but they also shut their doors. We highlight 15 that bit the dust this year.

Top 10 news stories of the decade

Let the debate begin: Was the iPhone more important than iTunes? Was anything bigger than Google finding a great business model? CNET offers its list of the 10 most important stories of the '00s.

About The Macalope: An Apple blog

Born of the earth, forged in fire, the Macalope was branded "nonstandard" and "proprietary" by the IT world and considered a freak of nature. Part man, part Mac, and part antelope, the Macalope set forth on a quest to save his beloved platform. Long-eclipsed by his more prodigious cousin, the jackalope (they breed like rabbits, you know), the Macalope's time has come. Apple news and rumormonger extraordinaire, the Macalope provides a uniquely polymorphic approach. He is a member of the CNET Blog Network and is not an employee of CNET. Disclosure.
