Comments on: Should the music industry tax you to use the Web?

The music industry wants to tax you each year for using the Internet in an effort to stop piracy, according to a British newspaper report. Sounds fair, huh?

This is not really surprising to me, considering the EU is a highly socialistic Governmental body.

Department stores have a name for their losses due to shoplifting: it's shrinkage, and their honest customers end up paying for it in the form of higher prices. The difference is, they don't ask the government to tax all their non-customers to keep them in the black.

Interesting...
How much of this money will find its way to the artists. How is this going to be distributed?

Does this mean that by paying the levy makes the music downloaded from P2P networks LEGAL? They are making you pay for the right to download and listen to that music.

One can argue that uploading the music to share will no longer be illegal as the music corps are being reimbursed by the people that intend to listen.

Personally, i download listen to it if i like it i will buy it... Does this mean that if i get this amount discounted or reimbursed when i purchase an album? Because with this levy that means i will be paying for an additional 4 cds per annum that i will not hear!!!
