Comments on: Are developer mergers good for the video game industry?

Don Reisinger can't stand video game mergers and acquisitions and is sick and tired of derivative gameplay. Are his concerns well-founded?

I completely agree with you. What more can I do than only buy those games which I believe are the most innovative? I.E. I really like Gears of War (xbox360), but I also bought Metal of Honor: Heroes 2 (Wii).... the new control scheme is awesome!

This could be a criticism of the movie industry too. The same forces are at work. The result is copycats and sequels. Other than the blockbuster franchises, the best games of the future could come from a yet to be developed independent game studio culture.

That's basically what all these games are, Running thru "OpenGL" maps... They're ridiculous... Just every game is pumped with new artwork. That's why some of the old arcade re-buys are good because they are completely unique.
