Comments on: Is Sony as desperate as it looks?

Sony looks desperate and if you ask Don Reisinger, it doesn't look like that will change anytime soon.

The writer has a complete lack of understanding.

The writer does not seem to understand what is going on in the Video Games Industry at this time. The PS3 hasn't been out in North America for even one year, so it is premature to count the PS3 out. The Ps3 is replicating the sales trends of the previous generations of the PlayStation console. If history is to repeat itself, then the PS3 should see itself back on top within a couple of years. As far as AAA exclusive titles go, this christmas is when the first of a big wave of PS3 exclusives are to hit store shelves.

To start, there is *Haze*, a brand new PS3 exclusive that is set to come out on Nov 27. In February 08 *Killzone 2* comes out. In March 08 *Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots* comes out. Also in early 2008, two other huge PS3 exclusive titles to be released are *SOCOM: Confrontation*, *Gran Turismo 5* and *Final Fantasy 13*. All 6 of these titles that i have mentioned are system selling titles, some of which are on par with HALO. Aswell the PS3 already has 3 great exclusives with *Resistance : Fall of Man*, *Warhawk* and *MotorStorm*. And last but not least, the PS3 has 2 huge *multi platform* titles in *Rainbow Six Vegas* and *Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2*.

Other mega multi platform titles making it to the PS3 starting in November and going into the first half of next year are *Call of Duty 4*, *The Orange Box*, *Unreal Tournament 3* and *Grand Theft Auto 4*. These 4 titles are system sellers aswell. People do have a choice to make here when it comes to the console that they will pick to play these multi platform titles on, but i belive that with the good number of quality mega hit exclusives comming out for the PS3 over the next 6 months, that an increasing majority of people will choose the PS3 over the XBOX 360. HALO 3 and Bioshock as the 360's big exclusives will not be enough to entice people to buy more 360's over the PS3, not to mention faulty XBOX 360 hardware which has reached epidemic proportions.

With the addition of an affordable 40 Gig. PS3 at $399 and the comming of the much anticipated *HOME* virtual world for the PS3, things are looking very good for PS3 sales from here on in. The PSP Slim will also play a role in PS3 sales with the ability to connect and access the PS3 with its WIFI connectivity. The PSP Slim has sold over 300 000 units in Japan alone since its release last month.

All of that with having the Blu-Ray player built in makes it a win win which just makes sense.

Thanks for the laugh buddy. Not just at your terrible grammar, but the shear ignorance of your comments. Microsoft announced at E3 05' that its in house developers were no longer going to support the xbox after that year to focus on 360 development. How is that not pulling the plug? Third party development slowed to a trickle following that announcement. As far as the xbox being a success...thats funny. Microsoft is a business. In business, success is gauged by profit or loss. The original xbox was a 4 billion dollar loss. Get a clue.

Let me first say, I dont understand fanboys, they will talk crap about everything else they do not own, as for this article, aI agree 100%. Yes maybe in 2-3 years sony may be back on top, but for now they have a long way to go. Now a 400$ system would be great, but backward compatibility is important, as they themselves pushed so hard for you to believe, now they say it is not important, to me this soundds like desperation. And to put out so many diff models and then discontinue them, tryin to find the one that will sell, well that is desperation also. as for games, the 360 is selling better because of the amount of games that are out, not because of the system, remember most gamers are not fanboys, They are infact gamers, and gamers want to play games, not watch movies. I live in a town of 45,000 and not one store here sells or rents bluray or hddvd so that part of the system is a waste to me. So it comes down to the games, and as of now, and as far as the next year, 360 has far more GOOD games coming out and the ps3 just dont have enough, so if they put the backwards compatibility back in the 400$ system AND put out great games on a REGULAR basis, then and only then will I be sold, for now its the ps2 and the 360 that will get my play time, with games of course and not movies. peace all you fanboys and have fun bashin me.

Adult PS3 ower thinks differently b/c Blu-Ray
by joe.sez October 10, 2007 10:13 PM PDT
PS3 is on every day in our home.

I own more Blu-Ray DVDs than games. The PS3 is not just a game system. I bought a PS3 60GB model and use it daily for the DVD upscaling (better than our Toshiba DVD upscaling DVD payer) and netflix Blu-Ray rentals. I have Tiger Woods PS3 golf title that I play for relaxation. Shadow of Colossus is our lone PS2 title.

The Sega comparison is silly and superficial and XBOX360 isn't the threat.

Nintendo Wii passed the XBOX360 within a year and Japan is a disaster for MS. Sony has credibility in Japan while MS has none. The XBOX defect rate is 20-30% at a cost of 1B. MS Halo 3 is out and plays to the same core audience of gamers that play FPS.

Sony may lose their console lead to Nintendo which can revise the 480p Wii (a gamecube derivative) and offer a 720p replacement within the PS3's 10 year life-cycle.

me personaly i own all 3 major gaming platforms along with the 2 hand helds
a super pc and an imac. of all of them i like the wii its fun to play but tireing
the mac well no real games there the pc ah windows so i dont have the
patients for games the 360 great games fast loading and loads of games too
but the ps3 lacks an awfull lot from my experience its slower at loading the
games are a litle bit more dull in coulour and graphicly they seem ever so
slightly ropier and the sixaxis makes me want to through it out the window
its way to sensative tho that might just be how the games where programed
and i belive that the price might make people buy it however that will make 2
majour price cuts in only a few months it doesnt put much faith in sony for
me ............. id be thinking ....... meh ill wait 4 more months it should drop in
price again by then and if every one did that they would wait until sony was
paying us to have the console

Sony keeps poking this PS2 customer in the eye
by Teddy72 October 26, 2007 10:32 AM PDT
And I don't like it. Sony is screwing up royally. It nees to have a cheaper PS3 model with abckwards compability ASAP or it will lose what little credibility it has left with its customers aho will not buy PS3 that is not on their "market demand" terms.
