Comments on: Is Sony on the right track with its PS3 strategy?

Sony has said, once again, that it doesn't plan to drop the price of the PlayStation 3. But can another strategy help the company capture more market share?

oh yeah, Sony's graphic library for the PS3 is crap. They claimed it's designed "hard" on purpose. Nothing to do with what came out first. X360 is DirectX11.

Killzone 2 is NOT better than Halo 3 or Gears of War. Get that over your head! You're just in absolute denial if you think Killzone 2 is the best.

Despite the hardware problems, at least there are playable games on X360 that you can enjoy with your friends. Maybe you don't have friends and couldn't give a **** about it.

Multiplayer support is everything for modern gaming. And the PS3 exclusives only Killzone 2 is any good! Even you can agree on that!

And X360 got plenty of multiplayer exclusives with co-op single player campaigns.

It's the games, dummy!

If Sony's library is crap Then what is 360's how many first party studios do you have less than 15. We have over 100. You must be CRAZY if you say Halo 3 is better than Killzone 3. All the Halos are the same, just different boards. Gears or war is not better than Killzone. have you even played the game. I have all of them. 360 AAA titles can not compare to Sony. Go check the the game reviews Ps3 games are rated higher than 360's. Other than Halo ang Gears your library sucks. When I go to Gamestop, I admit 360 has more games and 75% are garbage. If anybody disagrees call me out. Don't list multiplatform games either. Like I said before Killzone 2, LBP, MGS4,Heavenly Sword,Risistance 1 & 2, Infamous,Drakes Fortune, GTProlouge,Ratchet and Clank,Warhawk will murk your exclusives.

***FROM NOW ON THE 360 IS THE PLATFORM FOR MULTIPLATFORM GAMES DUE TO MICROSOFTS INABILITY TO MAKE A GOOD GAME. MAYBE IT SHOULD BE CALLED THE ACTIVISION 360.***

@ DMAN3k -

PS3 uses Cg (a game optimized version of C language) and a game optimized and simplified subset of OpenGL. Ever heard of those? The devs that say PS3 is hard just have their heads up M$'s you know what. They just want the simplicity of hitting the 'port it' button in their M$ dev studio app.... and are bitter because Sony designed a gaming machine, not just a repackaged PC.... which spoiled their quick & easy cr*p port, then market like h*ll strategy.

I agree with Ja-Nail, it IS EXACTLY the game library that brought me to the PS3. I don't care if the PS3 gets all the 'big name' titles produced by the above process. The exclusives (on both platforms) are where it is at! Yea, I wouldn't mind Halo... but I'm not sure I'd say it is better than Warhawk or KZ2. Then, as Ja-Nail mentioned, we have stuff like LBP, GT5Prologue, etc. I just don't see stuff like that for the other platforms. About the only descent multi-platform game I can think of at the moment is Burnout Paradise (which ROCKS on the PS3... not sure about Xbox).

Xbox had many titles when the PS3 was a young system but now the competition has caught up to microsoft, and they havent made good titles in half year / whole year.

But what we need to look at is the price: XBOX 60gb $300
HD-DVD box $100
Online for a year $50
Two games $120
Wireless Adapter (if your not in the range of a router) $100
Total 670 bucks for all that and u still have one controller and a 60 gb hard drive

PS3 pricing PS3 80gb 400
Online FREE
WiFi built in/ Free
2 games 120
Blu-ray Player Free
HDMI cable 6
Total 526 and you have a controller and a 80gb Hard drive.

System Arguments: Priceless

@JWMC1971: Not any brand can be used, it wount fit into the Xbox without taking it apart, and if you feel like doing that be my guest but, in PS3's case you can just unscrew the hard drive and slide a much larger Drive into it. Im not sure where you got that "fact" but please send a link so i get my facts straight.

Gears of War 2 and RFOM:2 both were good games but disappointing online.... Untill Xbox comes out with multiple titles intead of one overhyped game that is good not great, PS3 will be winning this system war...

Everyone says that the 360's cheaper, but really its not. There's stuff built into the ps3 that you aren't charged for (Wi-Fi, Internet, Blu-Ray, etc.) while for the 360, you'll have to pay $100 for Wi-Fi, $50/yr or $8/mo for the internet, and $100 for fixing the rrod. And on the 360, you used to be able to buy an external drive to play HDDVD's, and if you go back in time and get one, you'll end up paying $200 for it! Meaning that buying and 360 plus all that stuff you'll wind up paying over $650 (Or $850 if you go back in time and get the HDDVD drive!) plus taxes while you can still get a PS3 for $500! DOES ANYONE THINK ABOUT THIS?!?!?!?!

This article has started another ps3 vs. xbox debate. I'm a happy and proud owner of a ps3 and its perfect for me yeah if your xbox breaks you get it fixed for free because it was that or either lawsuits for M$. They were the ones who rushed there products out knowing it still had bugs rrod and scratching up your disk. Sony's failure rate is way lower than M$ so if your ps3 is broke you must have broken it your self. for the way the economy is yeah its expensive is why sonys sells is slow, if the economy was good they would easily be number 1 in sells. from articles Ive read people i know they get the xbox because its more affordable but really wont a ps3. I personally don't think its expensive considering what all that comes with a ps3 and i think part of that price could be a hidden fee for the free online gaming. but talking about a slim or scaled down version i personally don't think it could or will happen with blu-ray because the games them selves is blu-ray or on blu-ray disk. so i don't think they could take out the blu-ray player and the only other thing you could take out is the hd and the wi fi. which probably drop the price a $100 or more but buying them as add ons would be $50 - $100 would make it the same or even higher.

@SteveW928

My first HDTV was a 30 inch wide aspect Samsung CRT with 480p and 1080i, and I could definitely tell the difference between the two. When I bought my PS3 and tried to play games like Resistance in 480p, it was almost physically painful to look at. It was a big issue when the system first launched in late 2006. Not so much now, as over the years many people have upgraded, and quite obviously these days, not many HDTVs lack 720p. However, for people who do still have them, most games only support 720p on PS3 due to it's lack of a powerful internal upscaler for games.

As for the article, I was just at Wal-Mart seeking a late night Dr.Pepper fix (yes I drove down their just to buy some pop at nearly 1AM) and they had their own PS3 80GB bundle, with MLB The Show 2009 and Quantam of Solace on Blu Ray. It's becoming obvious to me that they're trying to get rid of the remaining 80GB stock, and with the PS3 slim 120GB looking more and more like a reality, it's obvious why. I think for now Sony will simply replace the 80GB with the Slim at the 80GB's price. Price cut later, they really just can't afford one right now.

@PoPoMcBeaver

I'm not sure why anyone would want to buy the HD-DVD add on, that format is dead, and all of it's best movies are on Blu by now, or will be. Myself, I use a wired connection, it's more stable, and most of my electronics are in one place, so it all works out for me. The cost of XBL is fifty dollars a year, and that's chump change to me. The real cost problem is the fact that after getting on XBL, I've had a hard time stopping myself from spending money on all the games available! These last few weeks have seen a flurry of releases!

Garou: MOTW, KOF98 UM, Wallace and Gromit Episode 1, Several Genesis classics released at once (can't believe I sat there and bought them all at once, I think I have a problem!), Sam and Max Season 1, Rocket Riot, Battlefield 1943, and just today, Secret of Monkey Island SE. All this with Summer of arcade starting next week, and sans Trials HD, I'm buying each and every one of those! Oi! My poor bank account.

Really, Wired does beat Wireless in stability, but wireless does have an advantage. If you don't have internet cables snaked all the way around your house, you can't use a wired connection, but you can still use a wireless connection without hassle.
