Comments on: What if Apple built a search engine?

Apple developing a search engine sounds counterintuitive, doesn't it? Well what if the company actually did?

Useless speculation. NO ONE (with any bit of sanity) would waste their time doing this. The market is crowded and Google is already used by a majority of the worlds population. This would be a waste of any company's resources, especially in these times.

I think I have idea how it would work. It would be something like: I will show you results only after you do this....or you can't search that because it violets user agreement... or you have to agree to download and install our advertising software in order to use it...or you must save all our cookies saved other way no search results for you! I am pretty sure that they would try to be "control-fanatics" like with all other products and services that they have come up! More of the same! Thanks but NO thanks!

You'd have to install iTunes to use it, and any search you make on it would be forever tied to their search engine.

"Apple's current strategy is tied to its hardware and there's no reason for the company to jump into another market."

Reverse that. It's current strategy is to use it's hardware prowess to build up media and content businesses. Search has potential. Google is starting to slip.

It would go around in a circle and only take you to Apple sites...seal you in a box , and empty your wallet.

It would suck as bad as their website. Maybe even worse.

It would be BETTER than Google!!! Look at Apple's dominance in the home AND business market!!! Look at how many people are buying Macs!!! The gaming & software industry is FLOCKING to them!!! Look at Apple's Hardware/software innovations!!!

The only caveat: you can only use their search engine to search for stuff about Apple. ;)
