Comments on: Microsoft is pushing Seinfeld away too soon

Don Reisinger thinks Microsoft is pushing Jerry Seinfeld away before it should. Worse, he thinks Microsoft needs to abandon its current strategy before it's too late.

But I LOVED the Seinfeld/Gates ads. I'm not all into whether Apple has better ads than MS or whatever. I simply loved the new ads because I love seeing Gates do something lighthearted and there is no one better to be lighthearted with than Seinfeld.

In short, the ads make me like Gates, which can only have a positive effect on my feelings about MS.

I am sure you are a simply wonderful person. But I seriously hope many people out there are not such shallow thinkers.

Why cant thay just use Darth Vader to sell pc's? It's a good mach, Look who would know more about a pc. He has one on his chest that keeps him ALIVE!! . And the power of the empire to boot, The mac guy would fall to his knees.

Instead of spending $300MM on ads that don't really say anything about the product, why not spend $300MM on bringing back the classic toolbars in Office 2007? That would fix SO many of the gripes of customers and create good will, that they in turn would be spreading the word about MS being a responsive company in touch with its users.
But no, we'll go with advertising instead. A typical business school case of how not to address a problem.

I have been a PC/Windows user for 15 years. My wife bought a MAC two years ago for $2,000 and i purchased a new Dell at the same time for $800. We both have ipods and use itunes, works great for both and that's fine, but when it comes to doing real work, my wife uses my computer far more than I use her MAC. The only time I use her MAC is when she is using my computer for something necessary, like uploading a resume for a job application or running some education software that comes with her classes. That's the bottom line with me. Sure you can buy Office for MAC or take your PC to a MAC store and all that, but who wants to do that, I certainly don't. I have 4 PC in my house and they are all networked together, pretty easily I might add and i can print from any where in my house and access files from anywhere and I'm sure you can network the MAC as well, but again who has time to figure all that out. NOT ME. GO PC and bring back the adds, I thought they were pretty funny. The MAC adds are funny too, funny to me when i mock them to my wife everytime she uses my computer. Additionally, the MAC adds poke fun of PC users and expects them to go use MACs, don't make fun of me and then ask me to use your product. Calling me stupid is harldy the way to earn my business.

YA KNOW - maybe the public isn't as stupid or deceived as the false prophets of advertising insist they are. Maybe vista perceptions are an indication of being fed up of crappy products offered at crappy prices.

While mildly amusing, those Gates/Seinfeld commercials are a truly deperate, and really lame attempt to "humanize" a ruthless, technically inept and failing corporation.
Putting a smiley face on a monstrosity is not only sickening, but very creepy.
Apple has Microsoft dead to rights in its ad campaign as well as being hysterically funny.
Microsoft could no more be cool or even relevant if its life depended on it (which it does).
Their long and sordid history of manipulating the marketplace, and eliminating all innovation not owned by them through any and all means necessary is well known.
It is both Capitalism and megalomania run amok.
I don't even use a Mac, but as an extremely reluctant Microsoft customer, I have absolutely no sympathy for the complete triumph of mediocrity and greed that this company represents.
Just because the PC has changed the world, it does not absolve Mr. Gates and his company from the way it did and continues to do it.
Microsoft's recent ads only serve to reinforce the odious reputation it has earned.
