Anyone read Prey?

Michael Crichton's book Prey wasn't that good, and these robots aren't headed towards autonomy. All the same, this optimistic story perversely reminded me of the book, with its pessimistic outlook on how scientific advances play out beyond our control.

At least these aren't self-replicating. That's the real issue we'd have to deal with.
