Could they use a holographic storage device. With holographic storage you can hold allot more data because it is stacked rather then linear like a multicore chip.

Why store all the information when our brains store only a little?

Just sounds like they are trying to experiment with it rather then just emulate it, which I think would be better.

If I think a thought my brain only remembers just a little bit. If it remembered everything it would be too much information and I would go insane.
