Liquid fuel cells for charging portable devices are coming and one of the first is the Medis 24-7 Power Pack, which charged up my iPod. But how green is it?

*Batteries* just draw power when there's a load. That's why they remain useful for YEARS (5+ years in the case of most AA batteries -- just check a Duracell for its expiration date).
Medis has created the unique disadvantage of a short shelf life (they promise little more than 1 year) with a TRIVIAL life once "activated" to start producing power:
- anaemic to start (unlike Cellboost will not power a 100% dead phone to make an almost immediate call, which is why Medis is adding normal batteries for its Medis junk to slowly trickly charge)
- the output gets worse very quickly, and it's in any event a 1 watt device overall, no matter how many batteries they stick on it
- the device is DEAD in about 3 weeks whether used or not -- and it's losing power every day
But I agree with you about the fascinating part -- how does Medis think this landfill fodder junk at a fantasticly high price is serving any purpose? Ans: Medis knows it's useless. How could it not? Medis is a scam. Get the facts
