Hardware Changes

How do hardware changes figure into these changes? If I change my motherboard does that count? What about my hard drive? Where is the line drawn?

Installed IE7, which took a looong time. Tried it and it froze. Killed it with Windows task manager and went back to Firefox.

Installed IE7
by Seaspray0 October 23, 2006 9:24 AM PDT
And rebooted. Had an issue with explorer locking up. Rebooted again and it cleared up. So far, that has been the only issue. Note: IE7 was installed to test compatability with our corporate applications. No issues at present... but we do not have alot of custom written apps either. The ones we do have seem to work fine with it.
Only 1 PC transfer allowed

I am 100% anti piricy, but I do not want to lose the priveledge of being able to update/change my home PC's. I would agree with this new philosiphy if Vista was affordable, but in where I reside, WinXP costs over $400. The only way I would go along with this 2-computer limit is if Vista cost less than $100 per licence. If not, I'm switching to an alternative.

The choice is yours!

Look guy, nobody is forcing you to upgrade to Vista. There is a
contract, that if you don`t like it, just click disagree and that is it.

Wanna use Vista, play by the rules or just keep using what you use
now and stop whining.

BTW get a real job that pays you enough... Vista is not for the poor.

Consumers will ultimately decide what they want
by Seaspray0 October 23, 2006 10:07 AM PDT
Each consumer will make his/her choice based on what suits their needs and what they are willing to spend to get it. I agree with MicroFreak on this. If consumers do not like any of the offerings, they will stick with what they have or not buy altogether. If you think any posts here are going influence the overall picture, think again. What percentage of the populace reads these posts anyway?

The choice is not totally yours!

I can't believe people are still posting useless comments like you did, a monopoly company like Microsoft, there are so much more issues involved than simply stating "choice".
Here, I provide a definition for Monopoly, study more and then comment. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monopoly
Are you glad you pirated Microsoft before?

Here's why this happens - consumer Geek McGee doesn't have money for the latest OS to run World of Junkcraft and surf for the latest rubber band porn. So he steals a copy. Geek believes it's hit "right" to have the latest OS. Makes illegal copies and gives them to his equally lame friends, many of whom could afford to buy it. So Mega-Soft creates next generation OS with "evil" security to prevent copyright violations.

It's your world, Geek. Now live in it.
