Comments on: WordPerfect co-founder: $1 million for gay marriage ban

Alan Ashton kept a low profile during his days as part of the triumvirate running WordPerfect. But he dug into his deep pockets to help decide a highly charged vote in California on November 4.

Anti gay or lesbian laws are just as bad as segregation was in the old days. The KKK types lost the racial battle, so they need someone else to kick down. Anyone who feels that their marriage would be harmed by the gay neighbors getting married has a very shaky marriage.

Be honest. The issue is that big business can legally cheat their gay and lesbian workers out of the same paid benefits that non gays get. That saves them 10 percent, and big business likes getting away with cheating 10 percent of their workers legally.

Prop 8 is based on hate, greed and all that is wrong with a society. It is not "defending morality". It is continuing a pattern of using hate to aid blind greed!

There is no place in a free nation for hate and greed that promotes the loss of freedom for 10 percent of society,.

Well I am glad that gay marriage is banned in CA! That just shows another reason that Satan wants to pervert and change marriages....

What angry and hateful gays are doing now is "outing" folks who exercised their rights by contributing and campaigning for something they believed in. Now they should be punished? Should we shout down Alan Ashton every chance we get? Charlie, stop with your hatred and moveon.org!

The people have voted and now the ones who lost are saying the vote wasn`t a fair representation of the way California believes.I always thought voting for or against an issue was the fairest way to go about keeping a free and democratic system of government alive.Guess all the schools we were taught in are wrong,I guess the squeaky wheel does get the grease huh?

Have I missed something here. Is the author complaining about the million dollars donated by one person? How about all the paid and free TV time given the hollywood set against the measure; not mention the main stream press coverage of people for prop 8 as haters. No my happiness does not depend on denying someone else's happiness. If you are gay you are free to do what you want, this is a free country. That does not mean re-defining an institution that has been established for thousands of years to help carry along the procreation of the family. As a non-handicapped white male I could say that my civil rights are violated because I am not allowed to compete in the special olympics. However I do not think the people in charge are going to RE-DEFINE the requirements for entry or definition of disabled for me. Also before anyone from the other side says that gays carry on the family institution; please listen closely: YOU CANNOT PHYSICALLY PROCREATE.

A waste of time and internet space. Stick to technology and business.

Biggest donation ($60,000) in Santa Cruz County -- came from Mormon, Seagate CFO, Charles Pope and his wife Gloria at $30,000 each, supporting the ban. Next largest donation was $10K, by unknown (against ban), and only a handful over 1K. Pope's contribution dwarfed the contributions of the entire opposition. Mormons, even more than before with all the underage-sex&marriage setups in Utah and surrounding states, are officially on my "Agents of Evil" list.

You will know them by their 'hate'....
bigotry, sexism, racism, intolerance -- "one-way-ism"....all preaching the religion of hate. Paul of Tarsus would be proud.

To all concerned.
RE: I don?t support Gay Marriage.
Dear. Hon: Vermont Governor Jim Douglas.
As a gay man, I commend your efforts to stop your state from allowing gay marriage from ever becoming a reality.
This whole gay marriage thing is nothing more than a sham and will surely cause more problems when gay people have many more disagreements than the average straight person does, I can only wonder what the courts are going to have to deal with and go through when a gay person files for divorce every day of the week and how will the courts decide who the women is when it comes down to dividing the money and property, as it stands now, the women gets everything but when it comes to gay people, who will get what?
Gay men especially fall in love with different men every day and are not loyal to their partners, they constantly cheat on their lovers while all the while profession their love for their partners.
In my observation, I have also witnessed many gay men, having sex with under age children and when you bring this problem to their attention, they don?t see anything wrong with it, most gay men think with their head between their legs and not the one on their shoulders, they also don?t see the repercussions of their actions for having sex with underage children.
This will undoubtedly become a bigger problem if they are allowed to get marriage.
Please do whatever it takes to prevent gay people from ever getting gay marriage passed.
Thank You.
Sincerely,
Paul Priore
