That's because this side of Steve Jobs, 'Spore' inventor Will Wright may be the most creative mind in the consumer technology business.

"Wright conceived an "evolution" game" - Uh oh, I wonder if EA has considered the xtian nut job factor. I can hear the protest now about how EA should have made a game call "Jebus makes Adan and Eve".

Well, that would be like expecting ducks to hunt like lions, wouldn't it? As most videogames are based on fantasy anyway (F-22 flight simulators are not flying off the shelves, are they?), only the most extreme among us nut jobs would be in arms over Spore. Spore sounds like a nice fantasy escape. ;)

I don't remember much outcry when the god game Black and White was released.

Few games that have been hyped for many years ever pan out. Diakatana anyone?

If Will Wright had an unblemished record of producing only truly innovative and fun games your idolatry might have some merit. He has an impressive collection of outstanding games, but an equally impressive collection of so-so games.

Besides, if it is a truly innovative game it will flop. Only lowest common denominator games succeed anymore.
