I tried accessing the site around that time and it was just really slow for me, but has since picked back up.

I wanted to say I think you're impressive. I could not get onto Amazon on Friday & had trouble today as well. That's why I did a google search & found your post. Thank you!

maybe it is management, the site for some reason now is starting to go down... and the same person who was in charge of the Vista (BrianV) is now managing Amazon's ecommerce platform.... interesting...

citibank called me today. they've had to issue a new card to me because a "large retailer" had their system hacked and they "accessed millions of credit card numbers".

not trying to spread rumors, but...

Amazon told me this is purely a site outage issue--no customer data released: "Customers were simply unable to access the site -- this was not a security issue."

Ha ha. Coincidence or not?
Regardless, an Ex Windows worker working in E commerce just isn't right.

Hey...this is Mr. Valentine's department! From Vista to this.Hmmm... really important, critical things not performing as expected seem to follow Brian wherever he goes. Coincidence?

What in the world is going on here? It seems like Amazon is having 'rolling blackouts' in countries where their 'server farms' are pretty separate..... sounds like someone is trying to hack their system or do a DDoS attack on them, and is actually succeeding.

It is June 11, 2008 and I am unable to log into Amazon.com. Is anyone else still having the problem. It was really strange because I was in the middle of having a dispute with a seller who sent me a defective printer.

Give me a break. Anyone over here spend anytime at all in enterprise IT? AWS service levels (or for that matter the service levels of most SaaS/PaaS providers) leave them in the dust and are delivered at a fraction of the cost of on-premise/in-house IT. As for Brian V. I would suggest that he has had a lot more successes than failures. Which is a lot more than most of us can say.
