- Verizon customer service is terrible. During the Alltel-Verizon switch over, I was stuck with a $900 bill. My Alltel Bills were never more than $150 each month consistently over one year. All of a sudden, Verizon takes over and I get a $900 bill. My phone usage was the same and this was proven. Yet, all of a sudden their online system crashes and is inaccessible (as it is right now as I am typing this). I have call their customer service and politely explain the inconsistency with my Verizon bill as compared with Alltel. One representative was sympathetic and understood exactly the problem and initiated removal of $700 off that $900 bill; but it required approval of a supervisor. She assured me all would be OK and that I should see it reflected in my next bill. That never happened. After a few weeks, I had to call them to find out what happened. I was passed around and I finally hung up because I was placed in a holding pattern. I then emailed them and got a response in a few days saying I owed them $900. I was just a number to them and not a person. To this day, Verizon presents itself as a moving target and you just get get a forthcoming explanation of things that obviously go wrong. One of their representatives simply brushed me off by saying that "it's just business." What has happened to American big business? They all appear to be money grabbing and unethical. They purposely stall and frustrate you until you tire out and give up fighting. They hold all of the cards and you are at their mercy. Verizon and such companies should be ashamed of themselves.
