Comments on: Virgin Mobile USA and Helio in merger talks?

A possible merger between virtual cell phone operators Virgin Mobile USA and Helio could be good news for the companies as they struggle to deal with a weak economy and compete against big wireless providers.

I cannot understand why Virgin did not hook up with a GSM service in the US. Surely as Virgin uses GSM services elsewhere in the world it would have made more sense to be compatible so their overseas subscribers could use the service when visiting the US.

To me this is a major flaw in Virgin Mobile USA business.

I have been a subscriber of Virgin Mobile's UK service since 1999. Why? Because I live in the US and I use their pay-as-you-go service when I am in Europe.

I saw this coming yrs ago i was with Virgin Mobile USA since 2002 when they started in the US untill March 08 ,they have good cell service that i would rate 5of 5 ,customer service 3of5 if you can actually get a real person ,there automated phone system sux never gives you enough choices that you actually need.and getting credit for anything ... LOL now there a good joke,That's 1 reason why after 6 yrs with them i went to Verizon Wireless prepaid witch is cheaper then VM,i had with VM had 3 phones the 3 and last i swaped out a ph (Marbl) to get it setup for my parents went to change back after a few days and was told there was a problem with my service and i wasn't able to switch back to my old phone witch i really liked the MTV edition v5 Slider .the only thing i could do with the ph was incoming & outgoing calls NOTHING else so after 2 wks and they still couldn't get it straight i left them and went to Verizon Wireless.Virgin Mobile is also under contract with all the local Wal-Mart's in my area Houston,Tx and 3 that i know of the store mgr told me they have pulled ALL virginmoble out of there stores you might find a topup card or 2 but thats it.I don't see VirginMobile bouncing back .Since Dec07 they have changed there per min plans at least 3 times ,witch tells me there not doing so hot.
