Nah, just spin from the open source and Mac crowd that don't want to believe the numbers. Well, read it and weep! These conspiracy theories about "downgrading" are truly laughable. These spin tactics are straight from the Clinton playbook. Spin enough lies about Vista's adoption and the public will begin to believe it. Just like Firefox, Linux, they did in those propaganda campaigns too. I have to admit it, it did work to some degree, but just want to make the public aware that they are being duped once again. :-)

One of the clueless few. MS has routinely engaged in deceptive practices to make their products more successful, Vista, Zune, XBOX, etc.

The fact of the matter is that ne one who knows the difference wants Vista. MS certainly does count those that upgrade to XP as a Vista sale. That is indisputable, except by the ignorant few that have to check with MS to know what their opinion is.

Hey Decider,

I see you are still stalking me, lol. You are the clueless one and a weirdo at that. Go pick on someone else for a change.
by The_Decider May 8, 2008 11:51 AM PDT
I am not stalking you, get over yourself. Picking you is fun because it is so easy.

How about you actually write something intelligent for a change?

You would think that MS could afford to hire shills with a little intelligence and technical knowledge. Apparently, MS doesn't have the funds for that after sinking all that money into vainly trying to trick people into wanting the bloated pig named Vista and sinking a billion into the incompetence of the XBOX team.

If this is just spin from the Mac fanboys and open source crowds why is it that M$ is losing market share and Mac and Linux is gaining. The real lies being told is that that Vista is good and no one wants XP. The only reason XP isnt kicking Vista butt is because M$ is making the PC distributors hide XP sells as Vista sells.

Ok, so chances are I will gain insults from this comment but... I like Vista lol. I'm a current MCSA, and pursuing MCTS in Vista. Bottom line is Vista brings a lot to the table and adds a level of security and usability not previously available in earlier Windows systems. Now, no doubt many people are having legit issues, I haven't had a one though. I run Vista Business on my work laptop, and Vista Ultimate on my home PC. I, like many Micro-Techs, was fearful of Vista when it was first released, though when I upgraded my desktop, and found everything functioning perfectly, without it being online and without me needing to go driver hunting... needless to say I was feeling safer in my investment. Though with Apple releasing new versions of OSX like there's no tomorrow, I am happy to see that Microsoft is planning to step up development and not make us wait lol.

Why didn't somebody tell me that I couldn't like Vista?

To help "spice up" the mundane admin tasks I do every day, it works fine. It was loads of fun setting up, exploring, and figuring out how to "integrate" with the corp environment.

At home, it just worked. I had to (make that CHOSE to) upgrade one application...that'd I was 5 revs behind on. Everything else works as expected...except one racing game that's old, and I have to run it in a window.

Damn shame that I didn't know.

LOL is right. Vista is for the technically ignorant, as are those certificates.

I bought an HP laptop running Vista last August, & have had ZERO problems with it. Anyone whining about Vista is probably trying to run it on outdated & underpowered hardware, or is your typical Linux or Mac fanboi. Vista is great, just like XP is great. The bottom line: MICROSOFT HAS SOLD 140 MILLION COPIES OF VISTA! Get over it. 7 year of trying, & Apple still hasn't sold 40 Million copies of OS Xtinct.

I to bought an Hp and within a week took it back. I could not get my HP printer to work on it. I had nothing but problems and decided that enough was enough. Vista was a nightmare for me and thousand of others and customer support was a joke.

I think many people wouldn't mind upgrading hardware if they though they were getting some worthwhile increased functionality in Fista for their investment. There are some nice new features in Fista (I even like the UAC annoyance, as it's a way to wean app developers off of the suicide practice of modifying system libraries and such), but in total there's not enough new or improved to justify the huge decrease in application performance. Linux (still) runs on 386 hardware, embedded systems, laptops, desktops, phones, and supercomputers. It's just as plain as day that Fista is terribly inefficient, and not worth throwing expensive hardware at.

I have been running Vista home premium since may of 2007 and with the exception of the initial non function of 10 year old hp flat bed scanner, of which hp would not provide vista drivers, I have not had any problems . I have downloaded all the tuesday patches, and now service pack 1 and it still is providing me with many hours of happy web surfing and email use.

Mohammed Saeed Al-Gates:
I can say, and I am responsible for what I am saying, that they have started to commit suicide under the walls of Vista. We will encourage them to commit more suicides quickly.

They're coming to buy Vista or be burned in their Macs.

Every time the public responds with accuracy to the inferiority of a product, some subject product lacky shows up to similarily represent "the public" in its defence. The empirical evidence that you suggest "ewsachse" is all around you and us. Hence why Bill has at least twice already made comments on the forth coming Windows 7. VISTA IS THE DIRTY BOMB OF THE DIGITAL AGE - and we all know it. The question is not how many people are experiencing operational difficulties with Vista. The real question is how many are not? The reason why estabolishments are down grading to XP is because XP works! We are still running XP in the US Army. Why? Because it works! The only reason why anyone should even consider upgrading to Vista is for Direct X 10 support and this applies only to a minority who can afford the processing power to play a limited number of DX10 games like Crysis. Vista is for the extreme gamer who naturally runs it as a secondary OS to XP. For companies that demand reliability and efficiency, XP will remain the logical standard until it is replaced by something better. Hopefully Windows 7 will be its true successor. In fact, Vista might as well be called Millenium Edition 2.0 - An OS whose cons far out way its benefits and should its rightful place along side AOL cds in our landfills.

"doing just fine", "very rapid sales rate"...

Nothing to be proud of since MS forces us to buy Vista even if our plan is to install Linux, or XP...

Typical MS 1ns0lence...

Low-level format Vista!

As a business, I can tell you that Vista well and truly sucks. We got one laptop with Vista, and our network has been screwed up ever since. It somehow bypasses the permissions set on our server, and locks up the files created by Vista.

I wish the boss would downgrade the bloody thing to XP, but he's too stubborn.

I am very surprised at your statement that Windows 7 will be out in about a year. I work for the State of California and we had the system installed on all our new computers, beginning in April of this year.

Vista is growing still, it has a lot to do to get as good as it's predecesor. But, overall it is a good O/S. I still use XP, though, and I probably will until it is neccesary that I change. As far as I am concerned, there is nothing wrong with it. It is for the most part a stable OS, with a strong feature set. What else could you want? But, I am sure I will switch sooner than later, as I am a gamer, and DX10 will eventually become a neccesity (or something I just really want to be able to see). Unless someone finally figures out how to get DX10 running on XP! One can only dream. http://www.custompcmax.com

You don't need to buy any OS, unless you buy from big chain retailers or places like Dell. There are many PC builders that will not force you into Vista at the moment. At some point, I am sure it will start to change, but you just need to know where to shop. http://www.custompcmax.com

Unfortunately, selling lots of copies of Vista on new PC doesn't reflect people's desire to own it, they have no choice.

These sales figures don't show how many copies the public actually asked to buy to upgrade their PC.

This product comes from the then wealthiest man in the world, I'd like to see his products if he weren't so wealthy.

Vista may be doing fine for Micrsoft as a business proposition that produces huges gross profits, but as a consumer and user of Vista it is an abject and total failure -- Microsoft should forced by and Act of Congress to issue a public apology for Vista and to reimburse all business Vista users for the inefficieces it has caused. My computer crashes 4 times a day. I cannot even install SP1 to try and fix Vista's admitted defects. I think the anti-trust litigation against Microsoft on the US side should be renewed.
