Terrible Service
by kaufmanmoore May 7, 2008 6:23 AM PDT
You don't want this. Slow Speed: ~1mbit, terrible latency, signal problems. I had clearwire for 2 months and it was horrible. If you would be doing alot of work around the metro area, I could see the laptop card being worth it, but as a residential service its a ripoff.

It also costs the same as local DSL/Cable offerings and costs more if you don't want to sign a contract.

Clearwire offers competition, but it is inferior at best.

From Computerworld article on the Nokia N810:

http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleId=9074282&source=rss_topic15

"While Nokia is eager for the N810 WiMax version to be used by other operators, Clearwire Corp. customers won't be able to use it, at least for now. That's because Clearwire isn't using the standard form of WiMax, 802.16e, supported by Nokia and Xohm."

The bandwidth and pricing model use for Xohm WiMax will not necessarily be the same as what you experienced. Even though it will be called Clearwire, it will still be a Sprint product using Xohm WiMax technology.
Shareholders ruined Sprint.

The merger never should have happened but you know these shareholders always want companies to do the impossible.

Comcast Comment on Wireless
by Jenn Khoury May 7, 2008 7:44 AM PDT
A 4G network is the next generation of wireless technology and will be rolled out quickly and certainly has time-to market advantage. As far as products go, the possibilities are great with such creative and innovative partners. We think that the ability to wirelessly connect many CE devices ? cameras, cell phones, laptops, etc ? through a fast connection is a big opportunity and good for consumers.
