Comments on: Free BookMooch service puts novel spin on books

BookMooch could have the inventory equivalent of the book-industry's largest wholesaler. Where's all that stuff? In your house.

People amaze me. Who in the world would take a neat service allowing the exchange of books and think of bedbugs and only bedbugs. Sounds like the voice of experience and I would say you have two options:
1. Spray the books with bug spray at the mailbox prior to bringing them into your home

or

2. Don't 'mooch' any books.

Grow up.
Bookmooch is great!

I have been a Bookmooch member since the start and it is such a great service! There are all kinds of books and the community is very nice and friendly. I have gotten more than 80 books and given away more than 75 and all have been great transactions (and no bed bugs yet!).

If you read as much as I do Bookmooch is a no brainer.

If you are going to write a story making a guy sound like he invented the wheel, you should make sure to see if his wheel is original!

PaperBackSwap.com (PBS) is nearly twice as old as BookMooch (BM) and has 4+ times the numbers.

"BookMooch members have swapped as many as 700,000 books"
Paperbackswap - Books traded: 2,697,077

"BM most-traded books...Memory Keeper's Daughter...780 times...The Kite Runner...585 times"
PBS - Memory Keeper's Daughter requested 2,745 times - The Kite Runner - 2,765 times

"BookMooch now has an inventory of about 480,000 books"
PBS books currently available: 2,074,801

If you want to write a story on a really big book swapping site, check out www.paperbackswap.com

And to the person that commented about bedbugs. Who keeps their bedbugs in their books? You are weird!

Bookmooch Not the First
by pallbear April 17, 2008 5:16 PM PDT
I don't think the point was supposed to be that Bookmooch was
the first anymore than an iPod was the first MP3 player. I think the
point was that they are making money doing this due to the
Amazon tie-in.
