Actually no, that was Patricia Dunn, after Carly was already gone. Nice try though.
What's in it for Carly?

Really, Grandpa? You mean you were planning to vote Republican until you heard that Fiorina was supporting McCain, and that tipped you to the other side?

The woman who ruined HP and Compaq

Now that's some dumb politics, to have someone with so little
experience successfully running a company (unless you mean into
the ground) than her.

in retrospect...

people say she was the best thing for HP.

it was a tough decision and very risky and it looked like it was going to fail and ruin the company. years after she was fired analyst say it was the best thing for the company.

Bad choice is good news
by cspkne March 9, 2008 6:30 PM PDT
I have first hand experience of Ms. Fiorina and there is no way I would want her anywhere near. The thought of her as VP sends chills through my veins. John McCain is making some bad choices - being seen side by side our 29% approval rating nightmare president, and now pulling Ms. Fiorina into his campaign with rumours of her as a VP choice. This however is good news to me as I want Senator McCain's bid for the presidency to fail miserably and choices like these send him well on his way. Another 4 - 8 years of Bush type policies and leadership will surely tip our wonderful country over the edge with little chance for recovery. It is getting close to that now.

Take What You Can Get

I heard that McCain wanted to get Ken Lay or Dennis Kozlowski, but he couldn't for obvious reasons. So he settled for Carly Fiorina.

Based on Carly's past performance she should do a good job of alienating anyone she communicates with. Her self centered hidden agenda tactics become very transparent every time she opens her mouth. Just remember that Carly's never wrong and you'll get alone great with her.

In a June 18 Reuter's article (http://www.informationweek.com/news/management/interviews/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=208700518), Ms. Fiorina was quoted as saying, "The facts of my severance package are that it was $14 million. All aspects of my compensation, including my severance package, were approved by and voted on by shareholders."

I'm not sure this is true. I looked through all of the proxy statements describing issues to be voted on at HPQ annual meetings spanning the term of Ms. Fiorina's tenure as CEO, and I did not find any reference to any shareholder vote on her compensation or her severance. Furthermore, various articles I found relating to shareholder lawsuits over her severance package suggest that, although her severance was approved by HP's BoD, it was not voted on by the shareholders.

Is it possible that Ms. Fiorina's statement in the Reuter's article is untrue? If so, would that be important news for someone to pick up?

Carly Fiorina will be McCain's Secretary of State. Eric Cantor or Tim Pawlenty will be his V.P. Richard Armitage will be Secretary of Defense and Tom Ridge will be Secretary of Justice. I believe Joseph Lieberman will be given a part in the administration but it won't be in a very vital role. However I do believe Lindsey Graham, Charlie Crist, and Mitt Romney will all receive positions in a McCain cabinet. Unfortunately Fiorina gets Secretary of State. I believe two other women and a hispanic will be given positions. also. Devin Nunes becomes Secretary of Agriculture, Candice Miller, Marylin Musgrave or Sarah Palin become Interior, Labor or Energy Secretaries. There could possibly be an African American such as a Clarence Thomas, J.C. Watts, Colin Powell or Condoleezza Rice chosen for a position for political reasons.Anything is possible but this seems to make the most sense right now.
