Comments on: AOL demos iPhone chat app

AOL's AIM will be the first "official" chat application for the iPhone. Does that mean Google contacts will be accessible too?

iChat?

On the computer side, iChat can talk to AIM clients. So why didn't
Apple just create iChat for iPhone in the same way? Does this now
mean that you won't be able to chat with desktop mac users
without have an AIM account?

Your iChat name works in AIM and your AIM name works in iChat.... you will be fine.
No, not quite...

The AIM app was created because apple asked a few developers
to come down and test it in what they normally work with. Sega
made Super monkey ball, EA made "spores" and AOL made a
chat client. They made it because that's what they do. they
wouldn't be spending two weeks making something that had
never been made before just to showcase another company.
Besides iChat is just a apple branded AIM client. anything one
can do, the other can too (as far as connecting to networks).
What I want to see is an Adium client for the iPhone. I have too
many contacts on conflicting protocols.

It was Demo'ed, NOT Chosen

According to what I have followed on the blog, the application was
not chosen. It will be one of several applications available to
download, and use.

If I am wrong, please refer the information.
