I used to think there was hope with VH1, but every time I turn to it now, some stupid ass how is on. ***? Does any music channel still play music videos?
It's no damn wonder people rip videos to YouTube because we can't see them anywhere else!

When it started, it was good. But perhaps in an effort to make it
more profitable, it got dumbed down big time. No longer hip, no
longer smart, no longer relevant, it's just a cash cow has been,
being led by people who have no idea what they're doing.
Kill it, or give it back to the kids to run.
So, the author seems to have completely forgotten that one of Viacom's other holdings is getting it right. Comedy Central is the front runner in Viacom's stable (followed very closely by Cartoon network's Adult Swim crew.) The only way Mtv is going to recover is if they realize that they need to dump all of the music industry hacks and start stealing sharp people who actually have a clue. Then they will need to get rid of the inept management that has hamstrung most of Viacom's other properties, so that those talented people can actually make a difference.
I don't want to seem any more negative than I already have been, but it seems that Cnet is publishing more and more of these "clueless journalist needs to turn in so many items a month" type of stories and it's slowly driving me to look for news else where :-(
