I have a feeling all this means is that there will be an unnecessary Comments section at the bottom of every single Yahoo page in existence. What an innovation. That'll surely turn things around.

It was done, trolls won

Yahoo was one of the first sites to put comments under every
news story. It got taken over by horrible trolls and when Yahoo
figured there is no way they can manage 1000 messages under
every story, they gave it up.
Seems nobody sees happenings in Yahoo

Yahoo Mobile 3 beta is a huge invention which is open to 3rd
party developers/sites, Yahoo mobile search is way better than
Google one, admitting the Yahoo messenger failure and merging
it with MSN messenger was also a good choice.
There are lots of changes at Yahoo for past year or so.
That 1000 people layout could be a good thing if people
responsible for horrible things at Yahoo which are never fixed got
fired.

Re-read what you wrote. Note the placement of commas and lack of periods. It looks like you really have several sentences there (I think).

Based on my best interpretation of what you wrote, you imply Yahoo! killed Yahoo! Messenger.

They did not do that at all, they just made it interoperable with Windows Live Messenger (and vice versa). That's not bad for Yahoo! it's good.

Yahoo! Messenger is alive and well and used by millions (most notably outside of the United States - where the inferior AIM boots it to 3rd place).

Of the "big three" it's my favorite and always has been.

But frankly I think world should jump on Google Talk. It's the only one of the majors with Jabber.

But I digress...
