I've had two the iPod Photo and the first iPod Video. I didn't but my secvond until the first one died and I most likely won't replace this one until it dies. I have several other MP players but I usually carry my iPod Video as my main player.

One, an 80GB I received as a gift. Now I know why I never buy Apple. I work for a company that imports MP3 players, so I get to evaluate many of them. I am used to plugging in a USB cable, going to IE Explorer, and dragging my MP3's to the device. The device recognizes the tracks no problem, and plays them. My carefully crafted directory structure is maintained on the device.

Contrast that to iPod. First, I had to download iTunes which promptly broke the Apple video software.

Then I tell iTunes to get my music, point it to My Music directory and let it go. Now my iPod has no organization, virtually no albums, and things like 50+ Track1.mp3s with no way to figure with what Track2.mp3 they go!

What a bummer! Did no one at Apple do any functional requirements or testing? It appears that Apple expects you to start with an empty computer and use iTunes to rip the CDs one by one, or to buy your music from Apple.

Well, I ripped my music collection 10 years ago, it is managed quite appropriately by every other device or program I have used. With close to 1,000 CDs, the effort to use iTunes is daunting. I wish my girl friend had saved her money.

I have had 1 ipod, a refurbished 1st gen (5gb) since they first arrived on the scene. No battery issues or anything. This puppy is a workhorse! Way to go Apple!

I first had the mini Ipod. Then I got my wife the video Ipod and I got one for myself. Now I have the iphone. I consider an ipod as well cause it has all the features. So that means I'm up to 4 Ipods

I'm on my second iPod . I got an iPod 5G (30GB) within the the first week they came out and i got an iPod Touch 16GB this Christmas. But then almost everybody in my family also has one. My dad and sister both have iPod 5G 30GB and my brother and other sister both have 8GB 3rd Gen Nanos. So the grand total for the family is 6!!

I started out with a 1 GB Shuffle that I dropped in a mud puddle. Worked good before then, never had a problem. Now its just a flash drive I use... Bought a 30 GB Video that I loved, had no problems with it, but due to carrying that AND a cell phone around at the same time, I decided to get the iPhone (8 GB) and give my video to my mom to use.

3Gen 30GB iPod 2003 - still working fine in 2008 (amazingly decent battery life left on it too)
1Gen 2GB Nano - bought for gym but gave to family member as I didn;t want to futz with the scroll wheel while on the treadmill or elliptical.
2Gen 1GB Shuffle - which I now use at gym
8GB iPhone - use mostly for net surfing, mail, maps and sometimes movies. I almost forget its a music iPod sometimes. Besides I have all my music on the ipod classic below.
iPod Classic 160GB - I bought this to replace my old 30GB as my music and video collection is quite large and I like having everything with me.

85% of my music is ripped from my CD collection of the last 20 years. 15% or so is downloaded (preferably from places like Other Music, eMusic or Bleep.com when possible... DRM free and higher bit rates). My CD collection is in boxes in the closet.

I stream directly from iTunes to remote speakers hooked up to integrated amps in my home using several airport expresses so the iPod mostly gets used in my car, at work and on trips. I have invested in some $50 dollar Sony canal ear buds for the gym and some Shure EC2's for the office. I am one of the 5 people who bought an iPod Hifi and actually love it for its portability but it doubles as computer speakers for my Mac). Its no substitute for decent speakers but its nice to take to visit family, use it out on the deck for parties, etc).

Never had an iPod, don't plan on it. If I ever got a flash one, I would get a Sansa. Got a Microsoft Zune 30GB and I'm not one to hail to Microsoft or anything, but BIG screen compared to iPod so actually can watch videos, but of course I have to convert practically everything since its only good for wmv and mpg. I just want more third-party accessories for it and wish I would have waited for the 80GB for the touch sensor, but I'm good and only have 10GB used anyways.

Zero 0. I borrowed one from a friend to test and found it doesn't organize music as I like and the scroll wheel thing was annoying to use while driving. It was like dialing an old rotary phone while driving. I can understand how some would like it though (organizes by Apple's way) but my music is organized already as I like it.

I still live with no MP3 or whatever. There is plenty music in the air, on the cable and on my MBP in iTunes and I survive, happy and well. In the car I like to listen to the sound of the engine and anywhere else I listen to surrounding sounds, birds, wind, etc..
And yes, I ever bought a Sony Walkman but felt isolated from the outside world.

iPod mini 1st gen, iPod nano 1st gen, iPod video, Ipod video 5.5, iPod touch. My first one was stolen. I gave my touch as a gift and i gave my first video to my dad. I sold my second video to a friend and I still have my nano. I'm going to sell that to because I'm switching to the Zune gen 2. And I'm just sick of iPod products in general. Oh and my dad bought the iPod Hi-Fi. Great speakers but not worth $350.

Six ipods, including including two shuffles (one got lost).

I bought the first model, and it still works. The need for more ipods arises as (1) storage becomes better and cheaper; and (2) I realize that I need to rip everything lossless. So basically, I'm buying new ipods because the new ones have way more storage.

I love em, but wish itunes would give us better quality downloads. Why the hell not, Steve?

I bought my daughter a first generation 10 gb ipod. I bought myself a second generation 40 gb. I bought myself a 1st generation ipod shuffle. I bought myself a ?generation 60 gb video ipod, I bought my daughter a ?generation ipod. I bought myself a second generation shuffle and gave the old shuffle to my son. They all work. I mainly use the 40 gb and the shuffle. I save the video ipod for long trips. I am not rich, but I do like the ipods.
