Resellers largely to blame

Wii Shortage? Blame the "resellers". There is a small "industry" out there of people who buy hard to get items and resell them on line via eBay, Craigslist, etc. Recent articles have shone a light on this growing trend and suggested that some of these people are actually able to make a full time living from their enterprise (http://blogs.pcworld.com/staffblog/archives/006104.html). I've found message boards (for instance on FatWallet, Nintendo Wii Reseller/eBay thread) where these resellers exchange strategies. These individuals bring unpredictability to the market creating a buffer of systems that may or may not actually get resold (many may be returned to the stores they were brought from after the seasonal demand declines. It's hard to know how to stop this practice but don't lay the blame entirely at Nintendo's feet.

I had looked forward to buying the wii when it came out, i searched endlessly everyday for 8 months until i luckily found one at Walmart. It seems the only, and much easier way to get the wii is to buy it in a combo deal, which are pretty easy to find. Not only do you get the wii but you also get games so it works out pretty well.
