Comments on: Is Real ID plan on its deathbed?

Some opponents think so. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, however, vehemently denies that's the case.

Can't enter a federal building, Unconstitutional.
by RonPaulRules November 2, 2007 11:37 AM PDT
Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

If I can't enter a federal building to talk to my senator or congressman then this is unconstitutional. I have the right to redress grievances.

The current regime cares not for that 230 year old piece of toilet
paper and is working hard to create laws that state it's
fundamentally illegal and spits in the face of God.

Just fall in line behind Bushitler and remember to extend your
arm in salute like the sheeple you really are.

Non-sarcastic note: You'll find one of these illegal and
unconstitutional identity stealing devices in my possession when
you put it in my cold dead hands.
Good point.

But since you would be able to obtain the ID you would be required to obtian one before you could protest having to have one to protest.

Does that mean that if I refuse to get a Real ID card they can't
compel me to testify in a Federal court? :-)

Of course. Isn't that what they want?

Try, convict and sentence you while you are sitting in jail. That would do away with the backlog in the courts also. 5 min. for the judge to read the charges before he says "GUILTY AS CHARGED." 1 MIN. more and he says "50 years for failure to get a REAL ID CARD."

Federal ID
by Renegade Knight November 2, 2007 2:03 PM PDT
If the Feds want a Real ID the Feds should implement it themselves. If the Feds can't do something without the help of the states, then they should consider not doing it at all.

Close, but not exactly right...
by Mystiks2 November 2, 2007 2:59 PM PDT
Bottom Line: They want a new ID that they can control, but they
don't want to pay for it.

The real problem here is the ability to "add" useless amendments to
"needed" bills to force them to be passed, like Real ID. This should
be something we need to stop.
Yet another liberty infringement Ron Paul will stop
by MyRightEye November 2, 2007 11:19 PM PDT
There's really little wonder why Ron Paul is gaining the following
that he is when crap like this is going on. He is the only one who
will stop the national ID card. if you don't know who Ron Paul is,
Google him.

More power to him
by skrubol November 5, 2007 7:06 AM PST
I can't see him getting elected, and I don't really agree with all of his policy, but I think I'm going to vote for him anyway. Hopefully getting him into the top 3 or 4 candidates in the primary will send a strong message that the people still care about freedom.
Lifelong Democrat turned Republican to vote for Ron Paul...
by jimmyhoops November 5, 2007 10:49 AM PST
I've always voted for Democrats in the past but just recently
changed my party affiliation to vote for Ron Paul in the
primaries.

He is the ONLY candiate who will stand up for and DEFEND his
oath to uphold protect the Constitution of the United States.

Bush and most of his Neo Conservative buddies can go to hell,
there is only one man who can and will restore the
Constitutional rights for all citizens...that man is RON PAUL!!!

Vote for Ron Paul in your local primary or start writing the
speech for your grand kids on why YOU let the United States of
America get hi-jacked by the neo-cons and their globalist
agenda and suspension of the Constitution. YOUR children are
counting on YOU to do the right thing.

If you love freedom, then it is imparative that everyone vote for
Ron Paul in the primaries. He is our last chance for a FREE USA!
REAL ID

What they need to do is stop the infow of Immigrants Illegal or legal. We have became a country of so many different countries we do not have a real country any more. We are so mixed up that you need to take all 50 states and put a differnet country is each state and see how many states you have left in the end. Probably none and looking for more ways to put people somewhere. I say WAKE THE HELL UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE COFFEE SMELL THE ROSES.

Today's Date NOT DOB!!!
by jimmyhoops November 6, 2007 11:53 AM PST
Although this article presents important topics which should be on
everyone's mind-state sovereignty, privacy issues, preventing "big-
brother federal government. The author should realize that when
the article is asking for a date, it is asking for todays date, not the
date of birth of the author.
Seriously, right? What a jackass.

Guess Cnet isn't tech savvy enough to change the date or delete
the post. Way to go Cnet! Teach your authors how to fill out the
blog spot BEFORE they go posting on the web.
