Comments on: Rain, wind don't deter NYC's Leopard hunters

Hello, kitty! When Mac OS X 10.5 launched at the Fifth Avenue flagship store, it was pouring rain--but that didn't stop fans from waiting in line for a few hours to get it.

I like how

when /I/ get new OS releases, it's a little more 'package-manager -d' and a little less 'I'm an idiot who stands out in the pouring rain for software that's tied to a TPM that should be illegal in Europe and Asia.'

I was under the impression...

that they closed the stores two hours early because they had to
not only install the new OS on all the demo units, but they also
had to essentially "redecorate" the store for the launch,
including end-cap displays and graphic displays within the
store. At least that is what they did at my local Apple Store.

It takes about an hour to install the software, so they would
probably need more than that hour to make sure all the systems
are up and running when they are ready to open.

Maybe a little bit of critical thinking and unbiased reporting
would do you and the readership some good.

I watched them prepare

My wife and I were numbers 7 and 8 in line at Fashion Valley Apple
Store and could see into the store as they got ready for the launch.
They had 50 more employees installing Leopard, swapping out the
displays, stocking product, lots of hustle and bustle.

Overall I like Leopard. There a few a things I don't care for, but none
that are a deal breaker for me.
